Happy Birthday, Mister Rogers! 🎂 Fred McFeely Rogers, better known as Mister Rogers, was born March 20, 1928 in Latrobe, Pa. @StateMuseumPA exhibits this wooden Neighborhood Trolley made exclusively by the Holgate Toy Co. for "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood," the popular children's TV show produced in #Pittsburgh and hosted by Rogers. This Pennsylvania Treasure, a blue-and-red wood uniform coat, is one of the earliest examples of military dress preserved by @StateMuseumPA . Its original owner, Henry Felty, is documented to have served with the York County militia during the Revolutionary War. However, this coat does not conform to Revolutionary War patterns of the period. The nation's 200th anniversary Bicentennial Celebration of 1976 was marked by a Conestoga Wagon Train and...the journey of the Bicentennial Raft. A recreation of a 19th century raft used to deliver timber via rivers, the Bicentennial Raft journeyed on the west branch of the Susquehanna River from Miller's Landing to Lock Haven. Sending out a big "Thank You" to Secretary Russell Redding from @PAAgriculture who Tuesday toured “Revolutionary Things: Objects from the Collection”, a newly opened, 3,000-square-foot exhibition @StateMuseumPA . This exbibit features more than 140 artifacts spanning three centuries of Pennsylvania and American history. Redding appreciated the layout of the exhibit, which spotlights witness objects and relics and commemorative art.
