@grantdesmidt @ChicagoDmitry I think with tracking there’s a number of homebrewed metrics you can come up with, coding or not, that are probably more impactful and productive than hand coding event data

@Statford_Bridge @ChicagoDmitry Well, yes. You hope your blend gives you an edge. And that's IF you trust the definitions and coding quality. But every club using the same means there is an edge to be had by self-coding. One club does 2-week blocks of one league, coding it all. Then find a handful of targets.

Moreover, many of us said these were bad signings at the time, got called "data nerds" and told to use our eyes by the dopamine addicts here and now the same crackheads are somehow blaming "data" for this
Statford Bridge Podcast@Statford_Bridge

You had to absolutely torture the second half season of his time at Villarreal to even get something to squint at liking for him. No amount of waterboarding of spreadsheets liked Sarr. I’m not having any blame on any data.

@grantdesmidt @ChicagoDmitry Every top team is using all of Opta Statsbomb Skillcorner etc, rather than one alone, to do their thing. I think the real secret sauce is in A) how you blend it into your process and B) league translation and transfer pricing It’s very clearly the process is bad, data or not

@ChicagoDmitry @Statford_Bridge I really think you need to produce (code) your own data to truly be able to follow a data-led recruitment model. Or find data companies with interesting bespoke stuff, where you've scrutinised their data against the video. Opta's coding practices are consistently bizarro.

The problem is the players go home and will say this guy is shit, this is all shit, and that bleeds into the season. Would bet heavily on no CL now, despite thinking we're obviously good enough.

Taking a step back, tie is gone when Jorgensen throws it away and then they immediately concede off a mistake second leg. Other than that, some spectacular PSG finishes and you live and learn. Probably not worth overreacting to in isolation.
Rob Lawman@CFCRobL

It was a dead after that first mistake, sucked all belief out of the stadium and players - almost pointless to analyse anything after that. We’ve gifted PSG momentum at every critical moment across both legs through really, really bad individual mistakes.

Rosenior says yes we’re going to come all out and press you, Chelsea come all out and press them, PSG say nice we’re going to lump it into 1v1’s and your contest winners will give us goals. Cheers.

I am fairly curious which 1 of: A) the below B) one of the lefties at RB (presumably Cucu) and C) back 3 Neto at WB, this is A is weird with no Josh, B would drive me batty, C would be cowardly but we played 5 CBs and 2 DMs against Wrexham so who knows
Connor Holden@ConnorHolden00

🔵Chelsea XI vs PSG Slightly strange lineup with the backline configuration, no Acheampong is very frustrating given the circumstances 🔹Sanchez — will be key to any attempted comeback tonight, he will face shots as we look to be attacking, big saves to keep us in the game and hopefully launch us on a few counters 🙏 🔹Backline — With Trev starting RB (by the looks of it) it likely effects how the rest of the team sets up beyond him ~ Hato starting I have no issue with at all, recovery pace is important when we are going to be so attacking ~ Sarr starting feels like Rosenior’s attempt to add more composure in the first line of build up (same reason he went Jorgensen last week) 🔹Caicedo - Santos pivot ~ the pair will be key at the base to win their duels, launch attacks and bait pressure in build up ~ Santos adding that composure in the first phase along with Sarr 🔹Three behind the striker ~ with Trev RB (potentially) I would be shocked if Cole is on the right, which makes me think it will shift Neto to RW, Cole free role in the 10 and then Enzo on the left (Cucurella overlapping) Big first 45 here Chelsea, let’s start with that and reassess at half-time… leave it all out there! UTC 💪

@Statford_Bridge What is the reason for 3 GKs? Is it a rule? I remember this coming up and it being a rule of a competition, but wasn't sure if that was a CL rule.
