We’ve made renting fairer, safer and more secure. We promised to fix the broken rental system and I’m proud to say we’re delivering exactly that. This historic action marks the beginning of a new era for private renters of male models

I’m sick to death of the right wing press to be honest. I suspect that Keir didn’t even know he had a niece and this wouldn’t have crossed his desk. Why is he getting the blame for selections that he has absolutely no involvement with whatsoever? 🤷🏼‍♂️
The Telegraph@Telegraph

🗳️ Sir Keir Starmer’s niece is standing in the local elections in Croydon, one of the safest wards in London. Some disgruntled local Labour activists claim she has been “parachuted into a safe Labour seat” telegraph.co.uk/politics/2026/…

@Deathisreal99 I rely on UC to the extent that most of the goods and services I buy are from companies that have their profits propped up by their workers being so poorly paid that they directly rely on UC. So the owners and shareholders get my money at the door and via my taxes.

Peter does not live on the minimum wage. He relies on Universal Credit to top up his workers’ wages to a survivable level so he is nicely off. We pay for people like Peter to run businesses while paying starvation wages.
Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪@PeterMcCormack

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

"When I talk to the people who do the tough jobs - nurses, teachers, police officers, soldiers, carers - about why they do what they do, so often they say to me 'because I want to make a difference'". - Gordon Brown, 2008 Celebrating all of our workers this May Day.

Today the Renters’ Rights Act comes into force. 11 million renters will get stronger rights and greater security. But Nigel Farage and his Reform MPs voted AGAINST it. Farage shows, time after time, whose side he’s really on.

People said Labour wouldn’t change anything. Today 11 million renters get stronger rights. Section 21 abolished. Bidding wars banned. Rent rises limited. Discrimination against families and benefit claimants stopped. That is a massive shift of power from landlords to renters.

This stuff enrages @Keir_Starmer. Make no mistake about it, he’s angry and he will do everything possible to address and tackle the rise of antisemitism in our country. We must stand together across the political divide to stamp out race and religious hate

Armed cops swarmed a quiet Spennymoor street after a man in his 40s waved a massive knife at residents, shouting "Allahu Akbar" whilst allegedly approaching women and kids in the street. 😡 Yesterday afternoon on Lotherton Drive, armed officers cordoned the whole road off for a 30 minute standoff. He was eventually arrested for possession of a "bladed article" (even though he had one in each hand) and is still custody. This has been quietly buried, I can't find it reported anywhere except below and the pictures I've added from facebook. I know people who live here, one is two streets down. They're terrified. Despicable. thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/26063333.…

Nigel Farage has just visited one of the poorest areas in Wales in a private helicopter! He hid the helicopter - probably paid for by super-rich donor living in Thailand - in the next valley, and arrived by car. He's a con man.

Kier Starmer was visiting a very small village in the UK, and asked the villagers what the government could do for them. "We have two big needs" said the village spokesman. "First, we Have a health centre, but no doctor." Starmer whipped out his mobile phone, spoke for a while and
