#OTD in #SteelersHistory 1958 the Sun-Telegraph questioned if moving the #Steelers to a larger stadium would improve the organization's revenue. Unfortunately for the organization the '58 season played in Pitt Stadium would bring improvement on the field but not at the gate.

⚓ This dress uniform belonged to Admiral Sir Martin Nasmith VC. Nasmith earned the Victoria Cross in 1916 for his command of submarine E11. The ribbon bar shows the small VC emblem marking that bravery. See it at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum. orlo.uk/GJWOL

Can't argue with Tommy's comment, "I try so many ways to explain to people how special of a place (Pittsburgh) it is, but words do not do it justice. The city, the fans and the team are all something that I will remember forever." And #SteelerNationUK were lucky to see him play.

A while ago I asked some former #Steelers to write about their thoughts on their time in Pittsburgh, the game, etc. I really loved this one from Tommy Maddox and wanted to re-share it - there aren't many nicer, more genuine guys: "You were passionate and your cheers and passionate in telling me when I sucked. But let's face it passion is passion and I did suck sometimes. Some chose to remember the good and some will always choose to remember the bad and that is the way it will always be. #OTD in #SteelersHistory 1953 the Daily Republican reported the #Steelers thinking of moving training camps to Latrobe but they stayed in Olean until 1958 when they moved to California Pa and four moves later in 1967 finally arrived in Latrobe where they return every summer.

He earned All-Pro and league MVP (Joe F. Carr Trophy) honors.

Awesome Read. Amazing to take a visit back to a time when an off season event would get covered like this and then we'd move on, instead of podcasters and bloggers dissecting and disputing ever little point the team president and head coach made.

#OTD in #SteelersHistory 1978 the Post-Gazette reported #Steelers Coach Noll as thinking he had the players to get back to the Super Bowl and he was certainly proven right when they went on to make #NFL history winning their third Lombardi.

#OTD in #SteelersHistory 1971 the Star-Bulletin printed an article reflecting on Art Rooney's #Steelers which highlighted two elements that would contribute in changing the team's history. A new stadium and Terry Bradshaw. A mention of Coach Noll would have sealed the deal.

#OTD in #SteelersHistory 1970 the newly merged #NFL rejected the idea of a 2-point conversion with #Steelers Coach Noll holding a strong opinion on it. The league did agree to put player's names on jerseys something the fans appreciated until that player joined another team.
