Absolute joke this. Do they understand cricket, let alone test cricket & it's current landscape. For those that don't understand the tweet below. SA v Bangladesh. Likely heavily weighted in SAs favour at home & unlikely to max weekend days for financial return + interest.
Gary Spice@Gary_Spice

Cricket South Africa, putting aside the Newlands debacle, get this. Bangladesh tour South Africa and the 2nd Test takes place between Monday and Friday, the 1st test takes place from a Sunday to a Thursday. Who is running this shitshow

@BoknRoll @ncakos316 Its not ok to price out your local audience. You should always take ppp into account. If you are ok with only having the rich attending springbok games then we have to nothing discuss further. Hope for your part you never get priced out.

@Stefan9 @ncakos316 And it is ok for it to cost as much as the biggest football game (or dricus) because it is a top tier event that millions of people want to attend.

I agree CSA need to take advantage and monetize the match. English fans will mostly turn out no matter the price. But there is no world in which the allocation given to locals is "fair play". The Springboks play England in a couple months, can you imagine if less than 15% of the tickets are allocated to South African fans? Would simply never happen.
Firdose Moonda@FirdoseM

There's a lot of unhappiness about ticket sales for the #SAvENG New Year's Test. I did some digging around the numbers. The local allocation is tiiiiiiiiny as CSA look to monetise the match, which I suppose is fair play to them. espncricinfo.com/story/csa-sque…

@BoknRoll @ncakos316 I was talking specifically about justifying price increases when talking stadiums. The average springbok ticket is now priced at similar prices then some of the biggest football games globally without any thought given to ppp . I don't follow nor care for dricus so no idea.

@Stefan9 @ncakos316 Im not defending them. Im saying whatever youre saying about stadium alterations is kak. If you want to see one of the top events in the world - Boks vs ABs - youre gonna pay. Or stay at home if you cant. What do you think a Dricus fight in SA will cost?

So I contacted these losers at the new @ProteasMenCSA travel agency. If you want to attend a single day of the Newlands test, its going to cost you R15 720. If you want to attend all five days, be prepared to spend R44 640. They will NOT allow you to buy tickets alone.

🔴✍️This past December CSA launched SA Cricket Travel, a travel company in partnership with Tourvest Destination Management. Now it makes sense why local fans couldn’t purchase tickets for the News Year’s Test at Newlands. sportsboom.co.za/cricket/exclus…

@bigbigjoe1 @JacquesMaree73 You should read Neil manthorp and Telford vice then. One said south Africans should just get over it and watch at home as pounds are more important for the local economy the other accused capetonians of exceptionalism. These journos don't care as they get in with presspasses.

She reckons it's "fair play" to Cricket SA, who just need to make some money. And if Cape Town fans really want to watch a game they can fly to another SA city. Can't believe she has a well paying cricket job, this one.
Firdose Moonda@FirdoseM

@JohannBiermann1 The local support base also has the option to go to Joburg, Durban or GQ to watch games.

@BoknRoll @ncakos316 You and others will defend whatever SARU does as long as the boks are winning. I am sorry that you can't see the daylight robbery of these price increases. The fact that people are willing to pay whatever is asked to see the boks doesn't change that.

@Stefan9 @ncakos316 These are rules youre just making up. If demand increases, price will increase. In fact they can increase it whenever they want. People dont have to pay for it. The fact that it sold it, shows people were willing to pay for it.

@BoknRoll @ncakos316 Higher demand doesn't mean pricing needs to increase by the degree that SARU did. It wasn't justified. The only time a 66% - 100% can be justified is if the overall experience improves drastically and that hasn't been the case at the venues.

He dropped out of Harvard. He got scolded at Microsoft. And then Built a platform that owns 75% of all PC gaming. 🤯 >Meet Gabe Newell. > Born in Colorado. Grew up in Davis, California. > Got into Harvard. One of the hardest things to do on earth. > Dropped out anyway. > Was just hanging around his brother's Microsoft office one day. > Steve Ballmer caught him doing nothing. > Said "Be useful or leave." > He stayed. Got a job on the spot. 💀 > Became producer of the first two versions of Windows. > Sat at the centre of the biggest tech revolution in history. > Spent 13 years at Microsoft. Became a millionaire. > Then noticed something that broke his brain. > Doom — a video game — was installed on more computers than Windows 95. > The thing he had spent years of his life building. > A game was beating his operating system. > Realized the future wasn't software. It was games. > On his wedding day in 1996 — co-founded Valve. 🚀 > Poured his own Microsoft millions into it. > No safety net. Just belief. > First game — Half-Life. 1998. > Critics called it a masterpiece. Changed gaming forever. > Then came Counter-Strike. Portal. Left 4 Dead. DOTA 2. > But the real weapon was still coming. > In 2003 — launched Steam. > Gamers hated it at first. Called it DRM. Bloatware. Forced install. > He didn't budge. Kept building. 💀 > Added automatic updates. Cloud saves. Friends lists. > Then launched the Steam Sale. > The internet went insane. Every single time. > By 2011 — Steam controlled most of the downloaded PC games market. > Today — 132 million active users. > 50,000+ games in the library. > Takes 30% cut from every sale. > Valve has never gone public. Never raised funding. Never answered to anyone. > Net worth estimated at $9.5 billion. > Still refuses a corporate title. No CEO energy. Just "Gabe." > Employees pick their own projects. No managers. No hierarchy. > And Half-Life 3? > Still not out. Probably never will be. That's just how he rolls. 💀 > Said "I was willing to put my money where my mouth was." > Harvard rejected. Microsoft trained him. Gaming bowed to him. Absolute GOAT 🔥🐐

Well look, watching international sport is expensive. That's just how it is. And when a side gets as good as the Springboks are, watching them becomes pricier. Just how things work. I have no issue with prices, but allocating almost 40% to hospitality, stakeholders and complimentary is absurd to me.
