So I was at a cafe in central London today and at a table right behind me were 3 Iranian women. I could hear them conversing in Farsi. Somehow we got up to leave at the same time, and they asked me if I was from Iran. I told them that I was from Pakistan. One said, “Pakistani people are so nice.” I asked them if everything was ok with their families in Iran, and they said, no - the bombing is incessant. We all cursed Netanyahu together and I told them Iran was putting up an impressive fight. They said they were proud of their country. It was a touching moment of solidarity among complete strangers. Guys, I’m an idiot. All this time I’ve spent trying not to die, I had toxic turf in my backyard.
