Yesterday, we introduced you to our newest addition, Bumpy the orphaned hippo. This was his flight down to Kaluku. He was a perfect passenger – he scrambled right into Keeper Joseph's lap and spent most of the trip chattering in little hippo grunts! Bumpy is very new to the fold – he was rescued over the weekend. His mother appears to have died in a territorial fight, likely defending her baby's life. Now, Bumpy has a family with us and a wild future ahead. Read his full rescue story and become part of his journey through an adoption: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/orphans/bumpy

Alberta is one of the only jurisdictions without accessibility legislation to remove barriers for people with disabilities, and the UCP has refused to pass one for many years. I’m proud to stand with Marie Renaud to finally introduce Alberta’s first accessibility act. Watch for it to be debated on Monday. Accessibility isn’t optional. It’s about dignity and building a province where no one is left behind.

Yesterday's life-saving mission: Rescuing a lioness from a septic pit Peer down into the gloom: somewhere in the darkness, fifteen feet below, a lioness had been trapped. Stuck in a steep-sided pit for almost 24 hours, she would never have escaped alone. KWS Vet Dr Limo – who heads up our SWT/KWS Tsavo Vet Unit – was faced with no choice: dart the lioness, then be carefully lowered down into the pit to secure her. It wasn't for the faint-hearted. This photo was taken during the rescue. See how it unfolded in images here: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/news/updates/l… Life-saving missions like this only happen because of our supporters, who fund our veterinary initiative. Thank you for being part of the rapid response that is offering Kenya's wildlife a lifeline.
