A quick search through the collections today has revealed a couple of specimens that are definitely worth sharing: two hadal amphipods - Bathycallisoma (Scopelocheirus) schellenbergi from an unbelievable 10,047m depth in the Kermadec Trench:

We had a fantastic day on Saturday at the @britnats Encaenia at @NHM_London. Always an absolute pleasure to host this amazing association of naturalists.

Sir Hans Sloane's collection formed the basis of the Museum as well as the British Museum and the British Library.   However, there is a complex history behind Sloane's collection, which was financed in part by profits from transatlantic slavery #BlackHistoryMonth #HansSloane
