@sarahdistortion @twesley06 @StephOhD @TheMagaHulk The average teacher makes over 70k, if she is so successful and with her “19 years of immaculate evaluations” I’m sure she is even closer to 6 figures. If she cant live on that for >8 months of work then 🤷‍♂️

Teachers are the whiniest profession in America. They work less than half the year. They're back home by 3:30 PM everyday. They never have to work weekends or holidays. But then they'll whine they aren't paid for their 20 minute commute.
Ken | The Real Marvel Teacher 🍎@MarvelTeacher2

Things #Teachers don’t talk about: That unpaid hour before school where you’re setting up the room, printing papers, and trying to mentally prepare for the day.

@StephOhD @TheMagaHulk So we’ve established you originally lied to get sympathy and when called out you move the goalpost.

@catholicchristo @TheMagaHulk Make sure you tell your kids' teachers at parent conferences that they're just glorified babysitters. But you won't. Because you're brave on the Internet but you'd never act like such a tool in public. Go back to your Ham Radio.

@StephOhD @TheMagaHulk I have 5 kids and counting that actually belong to me. Kids whose entire future I’m responsible for. Being a glorified babysitter is not the same. I handle 10’s upon 10’s of millions of dollars on an annual basis for the company I work for.

@StephOhD @TheMagaHulk Sounds like you signed/your union signed a shitty contract. You can’t complain about the company holding you to it. So again what’s your gripe? You say you have a shit contract, yet complain when people say the union is bad. Pick a lane.

@StephOhD @cryptophila13 @TheMagaHulk At least you can’t warp or indoctrinate any young minds on weekends. Don’t you have some social justice protest to attend today or is it only during school hours so you can get the students out there to warp their minds?

@numeroustimes @TheMagaHulk No. You can't have it both ways. In the same breath as you say "you assigned it, don't complain" you people also whine that students aren't learning. If you want them learning, there's work to grade. You complain no matter what we do.

@StephOhD @TheMagaHulk I’m saying dont complain about after hours work that you assigned. If you can’t get all of your work done during the workday, you don’t get to complain about bringing work home…that you are responsible for assigning.

@twesley06 @TheMagaHulk You're asking the wrong question. Ask why I would consider leaving my family for 8 straight days to do extra paid work. Why would I need to do that?

@seshtion @TheMagaHulk Come grade some essays then. I even have a rubric for you. Leave detailed feedback for each student. There's 110 of them. You get 50 mins/day, and it's 10 mins/ea to do a good job. Also prep all you need to teach 35 classes/wk in that same 50 mins. And don't work outside hours.

@StephOhD @TheMagaHulk Why are you acting like it’s insane amounts of work to grade some high school exams. Nowadays they have scantrons to grade multiple choice exams so teachers only have to grade written papers or questions on exams now. You don’t even work a full 8 hour shift during the day.

@Lagerale @TheMagaHulk You're right. But they *can* fire you for not fufillng your contractual responsibilities (which can't be done with the school day). And if *everyone* refuses, that's likely union activity, and apparently everyone thinks we shouldn't have that, either, so...

@StephOhD @TheMagaHulk No you wouldn’t. They can’t fire an entire district. This I’m the victim crap needs to stop. You create the problem then bitch about it. The can’t fire you for not working at home, unless in your contract it says you have to.

@cryptophila13 @TheMagaHulk Yep, and I bet you expect to be respected, and paid fairly for that work. Not consistently told how "easy" your job is, how "stupid" you are, or that those who "can't" do what you do.

@StephOhD @TheMagaHulk I have night calls and things I have to do on the weekend to catch up with my week and I’m in the business world. You have to do what you have to do. It’s called being an adult.
