The landscape is changing from softball team's using one workhorse ace, to a pitching staff approach. Here are the teams who have invested in a staff to make a deep run in 2026. 1. Tennessee: leads the nation with .53 ERA. They have 3 pitchers (Pickens, Nuwer, Mardjetko) with 30+ IP and all with a SUB 1 ERA. 2. Texas Tech: 3 pitchers who have a combined 21-1 record. Sam Lincoln & Kaitlyn Terry undefeated and NiJaree Canady leads teams in strikeouts. 3. Alabama: A pitching staff that is undefeated on the season still and an ERA of .68 (3 arms who 30+ IP) 4. Nebraska: Jordy Frahm and Alexis Jensen both ranked in the Top 10 in the nation in strikeouts.

ATHLETES — If you switch teams, this is how you communicate it professionally to college coaches: College coaches understand that sometimes players change teams. What matters most is how you communicate it. If you recently switched programs, be honest, positive, and focused on your growth—not drama. Here’s a great way to explain it: ✅ Let them know you value consistency and development ✅ Share your new team info, jersey number, and schedule ✅ Stay respectful toward former coaches and teammates Example update: “Coach, due to roster changes on my previous team, I have moved to a new program that gives me a more consistent opportunity to compete and grow. I understand how important it is to play regularly and be seen as I pursue my goal of playing college softball. I’m excited for this new opportunity.” Then include: ✔️ Team name ✔️ Jersey # ✔️ Tournament/Field #s ✔️ Dates and game times ✔️ Profile/video link Key reminder: Changing teams is NOT a red flag if you communicate with maturity and purpose. Show coaches you handled it the right way—and keep chasing the dream.

Just drove past my high school and saw a bunch of little softballers on the freshman and varsity field at what must be a camp. Loved seeing it and reminded me how lucky I am that I was able to come back home to do what I love 🤍 thank you @SageSball

As a coach, I want to know you as a person. Not just an athlete. I want to be able to talk to you about life. Not just softball. A lot of recruiting nowadays is about spotting the talent first. Which is understandable, and something I do first as well. But after that, I recruit the person. If I can’t have a conversation with you and can’t trust you OR your parents to represent our program well, I cant continue recruiting you. Thats honesty.
