@Ajarncom Haha yes! Everyone kept pushing it on me . We managed 2 episodes. I can see the appeal but wasn’t for us.

We got to the third episode before I looked pleadingly across at my wife from the sofa and said "I can't do this. I'm sorry. Not another 37 episodes. Life's just too short" Thankfully she agreed. The series might be the talk of the town but I can't watch something that's carried by the weight of purely how gorgeous the two main characters are. In fact, my wife was telling me that the producers of Chinese series have recently had a kick up the arse and been told to focus on an engaging story-line rather than the good looks of the cast. I could not agree more. #Netflix

Really enjoying this comedy drama on Netflix. Jennifer Jason Leigh is 64 now. I don't think I've seen her since 'Single White Female' and the brilliant 'Dolores Claiborne' in the early-mid 90s.

@Ajarncom Take a look at walking tours of they are available. We’ve had really good luck with these. Like both of you we can’t stand most organized bus tours as invariably you end up always waiting for that one person or at some factory to buy local goods.

While doing research on an upcoming May trip, I've noticed the cost of organised tours has gone up considerably. It's a moot point anyway because I hate organised tours with a passion - boring guides, vehicles with bad suspension and bad air-conditioning and there's invariably one loud person ruining the harmony of the group - but sometimes they are the only option if doing things independently by public transport is too difficult. We came up against this problem in Georgia several years ago. We ended up doing four organised trips and hated two of them because of feeling ill and/or the minibus was old and knackered. This time we'll probably skip the idea. I'm too old for eight-hour round trips on a stuffy minibus. oh, the joys of travel.

@bozwollox We do BKK - HK return all the time. Great time, great price and so easy.

The Emirates lounge at Bangkok is very very quiet. Makes sense as I doubt many people are heading to Dubai right now. But I’m off to Da Nang on one of their ‘fifth freedom’ routes. Hong Kong and Siem Reap are the other destinations they travel direct from BKK I believe.

Happy Anniversary! Le Normandie at Mandrin Oriental. Honestly one of the best meals that has ever passed my lips…ever. That said this place is definitely not on the influencer list of living in Bangkok on 1000 EUR a month. 😝

@Ajarncom I saw this last year at Witherspoons in Dublin. I thought it was a great idea as there was a long queue but moved quickly.

I never see a problem with this - and would happily join the queue. It's the fairest system possible to serve people on a first come, first served' basis. Lots of people saying "but we've never done it this way in pubs for centuries" but that doesn't mean it's always been the right way. Personally, I hate the angst of standing at a bar in a crowded pub and trying to work out if I should let the fearsome guy with the 'cut here' neck tattoo go first or am I pushing in front of 'Old Alf' who's drunk here for 50 years as man and boy.

Do you ever go into 7-11 because you feel peckish and want something not too unhealthy to eat? Then become so mentally exhausted by the choice on offer, that you end up outside with a banana muffin and a bag of crisps?

@Ajarncom Haha same here . But thank goodness Pancho/Punch finally made some real monkey friends so I suppose this trend will go away . That said I saw an article about Moo Deng yesterday and apparently living in squalor now that he’s not popular.

I think it's been at least an hour since my wife showed me a video clip or photo of Punch the Monkey - who seems to have taken Thailand by storm. I wonder if in a corner of a Thai zoo, there's a certain pygmy hippo who's muttering "damn that bloody monkey!"
