He deserved more than that but we welcome this positive step in the fight against torture which, despite strong provisions in the law, has become rampant. Some magistrates see no problem in adjourning these simple cases for a full month. They don’t entertain bail applications.

Criminal Cases backlog in Uganda stands at over 46,000 unresolved cases [2024/2025]. Will criminal cases also be resolved through mediation? Is Mediation by compulsion of the Law Constitutional? Mediation alone shall not address Admnistrative inefficiency!
