Went to visit friends this weekend. Always a joy to see them but I’ve realised I’ve become deeply antisocial. I can’t cope with criss crossing conversations, the bright laughter, the planning of futures I can’t comprehend. I’ve come home melancholic & tired. So self pitying.

Small meat has become one of my favourite breakfasts. Lamb fried with spices, tomato and lots of oil. Served by a lot of arabic/central Asian places. This is Watan, an Afghan place on Smithdown Road. The hot, fresh, kitchen made bread makes an enormous difference.

Accidentally ordered far too much at Namu Oru Dosa off Edge Lane last night. Great, cheap, simple, Sri Lankan place. Especially enjoyed the lentil soup, deep fried cauliflower and of course a dosa.
