Chase your dreams.
If you want to be a storm chaser,
-DO IT.
If you wanna study weather
-DO IT.
All of the “big” chasers people look up to all had to start somewhere. We all had a DAY 1, and we all have been out there with zero understanding and it’s a beautiful thing. Social media as of late (especially WX community) has been very hostile and off putting to say nicely. But I think it’s important for everyone to go out there and chase their passions.
Everyone has a right to be on the roads no more and no less than I do. The only issue I have ever had is the lack of situational awareness/understanding. We have ALL been in these situations, and how you handle them is the most important part. Adrenaline is a crazy drug and causes everyone to react in different ways and go into tunnel vision. Which can lead to traffic accidents, bad positioning on storms, and even serious injury.
My advice to this is ask for advice from a someone you look up to, or even are friends with who has more chasing experience. Maybe hop in someone else’s car while you learn. There is nothing wrong with that.
But the most important thing is to go out there, HAVE FUN, LEARN, and STAY SAFE. We all have our own dreams and versions in our heads, so go conquer it.

Seeing a violent #tornado in slow motion is a very scary thing to see. Look at all that debris that is getting ejected around the circulation.

Performative outrage is definitely a thing in the chaser community. Want to make a name for yourself? Get out there. Chase hard. Push yourself. Score big. No one's gonna remember you for sitting on ya porch swing peck-peck-peckin' at others like a churchlady.
All this AI slop is actually increasing the value of what trusted, high-profile chasers do—because, for example, if you're looking at crazy-ass Cat-5 footage from me (or from another known, flesh-and-blood chaser), you know it's real.
