the delta rune shelter code not being found at the church is still kinda dumb to me why did we spend a whole chapter at the building the characters deduced would be where a code would be and theres no code there and we only semi-learn what another separate code actually is
@flowflow_2slow Jealousy: Ralsei to Flowery, Kris to Noelle
Inferno: The super fucking giant setting sun in the dark world and Ralsei using fire magic.
not a single deltarune fan ive seen on twitter save for one actually understood chapter 5's ending. just because its an allegory for escapism doesnt mean it actually is what's happening. susie isnt delusional, she's sleeping in castle town because of her obviously bad living sit-
@NectarOfAmbi@sheepnstein Saying it's "afraid to play like Deltarune" is framing it the wrong way. I think Toby just likes exploring and implementing different gameplay mechanics, and each Dark World being its own world is a really great way to do it. If every Chapter played like Ch 1... yeah nah
@sheepnstein Chapters 3 and 5 have a cap on how much I like them because most of the chapter is afraid to play like deltarune and instead adds a new gimmick (legend of tenna, platformer)
No disrespect to anyone who genuinely likes each Deltarune chapter more than the last but it genuinely seems like some of y’all just like whatever comes out the most recently the most
@ak_ak64@sheepnstein I love 3 but it was very polarizing when it came out because of the boards. If 3 didn't have the SWORD quest, it would be my least favorite, but it does have it, so I love it. For me, I probably go 4 > 5 > 3 > 2 > 1
@sheepnstein I replayed the whole game after Chapter 5 released. Chapter 3's the best one, but Chapter 5's a close second. Yes Chapters 2 and 4 have more hype moments and aura but the gameplay matters too to motivate you to keep playing and 3 and 5 are the best ones by far on that front
@sheepnstein I mean, each Chapter has consistently improved game mechanics, the music continues to be good, the story becomes more compelling, mysteries are created or perpetuated, etc etc. They do generally get better chapter to chapter, though I can see why people have 2 > 3 or 4 > 5
@_gurusandhu_ I mean, Susie doesn't really have another option besides Noelle. Obviously she isn't asking Carol after Chapter 4. After Chapter 5, she knows bringing up "dark worlds" to Toriel isn't a good idea. Asgore and Undyne are gone. Who is she gonna recruit? Alvin?
did I actually miss something cuz what in chapter 2 made Susie think Noelle is like crazy physically strong (in the dark world I presume)
like WE know that for obvious reasons but how does she??
@ELumiose19996 She's literally in a gacha ball and on top of a fucking tree a good ways away from where they're actually fighting. Then The Knight shows up and dashes a good ways away from where she is again. It's the same time of night that she'd be asleep anyway so it's really no issue
Toriel sleeping through the chapter 3 dark world is lowkey ass writing. Very obviously a cheap and nonsensical way to have her nearly get kidnapped but remain oblivious about the dark world. Probably my biggest criticism of the story so far.
@ELumiose19996 Toby isn’t capable of writing this game with actual stakes so characters outside of the main trio are forbidden from knowing about the Dark Worlds
@467Doggo This is the belief I've held since the Chapter 2 days and is posited by the much beloved Device Theory. I don't think Gaster is the god who made Deltarune, I think he found it and connected us to it because we as players can bend the game to our will.
(Hot take?) But the lamest delta theory to me is that gaster created the whole deltarune world, is much better to think he came in like some lovercraftian parasite and reshaped an already existing world to his vision
@s4pphirephoenix@kamurocho_raven@Kirwithdot Ah yes a good writer pays set ups off immediately and turns the antagonists motivations off so that the protagonist can pay off the setups with 0 resistance.
@Kirwithdot Kris deliberately distracted her by making the dark world. This is literally part of their plan. Susie still ends up getting a shelter code. She needs all three though. Her deciding to Noelle what's going on is an action on her part to try and make the situation better.
@FORGOTTEN_GIRL_@GApimentados@user17386704 So your read is that the prophecy in the normal route only has one girl, yet seemingly shows two different girls, one of those girls is the angel, even though the prophecy never points at "the girl" and the angel being the same person. Yeah nah Susie and Noelle are both in it.
@StephenButtass@GApimentados@user17386704 because the girl role split? i dont think you read my reply lmao. im agreeing that it splits just ONLY in the weird route, which has basically been hard confirmed. There is no fourth triangle in the normal route, which is the relevant one.
after playing chapter 5 i’m fully convinced that if Susie was male, Noelle would be labeled as “misogynistic” because outside of WR she literally has fuck all to do in the story besides being a love interest, but because it’s “muh heckin wholesome yurislop” no one says anything
@dessworshiper I could've used more Asgore but outside of that, we got fantastic development for the core characters, which I'm always here for. It's a character driven story, and getting one last fun adventure with them before shit hits the fan is something I think we're going to thankful for.
ok let me clarify lol
i LIKE chapter 5.
it’s still deltarune, and I love deltarune.
it’s still a fun experience and i had a ton of fun playing it on launch.
BUT at the end of the day, im a story person. gameplay is important, but i want to feel immersed in a world with a
There are people out there who genuinely believe Deltarune chapter 5 sucks when it’s literally the biggest most fun feature packed chapter yet like get real
@DumbLumiThing The fight is a parallel between Kris and the player, which I really liked. It also establishes a precedent for a body separated from being able to become a darker, which has HUGE implications (Knight could be Dess's soulless body)
---DELTARUNE CHAPTER 5 SPOILERS---
I think one of the main reasons why the Chapter 5 shadow crystal boss felt so underwhelming to a lot of players was because of the lack of buildup. All of the previous shadow crystal bosses had been built up, while Mew Mew kinda just appeared
