Today, D/Governor Deng Joh Angok of the UNS, Gen. Johnson Olony, Min. Dak Duop, other leaders, and I, met for four hours at my residence in Juba to discuss on how to consolidate peace in the state. We resolved to commit to peace, declare our belief in it, and work for it in order to promote peaceful coexistence, unity and harmony in our communities. This is the moment for Upper Nile people to forgive and reconcile in order to focus on regional development and social services delivery. #SouthSudan #SSOX

I chaired the SSRA-BoD today and visited the TaX Academy offices. The board has examined the SSRA revenue collection during the first half of FY 2023/2024. In general, the Authority is functioning properly, with SSP 146.8 B. collected between July & December 2023, accounting for 60% of the whole Fiscal Year forecast of SSP245. B. This indicates that senior management & the general workforce are doing well. However, we identified a number of strategies that must be implemented to improve the effectiveness as well as tax administration and compliance. #SSOX #SouthSudan

In 2023, South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA) formerly @NRA_SouthSudan increased revenue collection and surpassed itself. This will be continued in 2024. We have a lot of work to do, and the board and management must collaborate to get it done. Happy New Year, everybody! #SSOX

My big thanks to Hon. Kuol Manyang Juuk, all of my colleagues, family members, friends in the government and various communities for attending my Thanksgiving celebration last Saturday as I recovered from the surgery I had last March; it was a beautiful show of our love & unity.

Our elder, Hon. Joshua Dau Diu, is recovering quickly from surgery he had last month, just as I had in March. Meeting him today at his residence was an excellent opportunity to learn more about his life experiences and values. We praise God for his successful surgery. #SSOX

The news of Dr. Marial Awow's passing shocked me. My condolences to the family and the community during this trying time. A well-known economist, academic, leader who faithfully served the country, and close friend to many of us, has passed away. May his soul rest in peace.#SSOX

Hon Tor & I had the chance to see Dr. Adowk Nyaba and Hon Abuk Payiti today at their home in Juba. Even though life takes us in different directions at times, we always find a way to return to one another. Providing peace and unity for the UNS population is our moral duty. #SSOT

The majority of our citizens are swiftly embracing their noble duty of paying taxes voluntarily @NRA_SouthSudan making gross non-oil revenue collections for April 2023 of SSP 19.8 billion exceed any monthly performance todate. I therefore call upon the remaining few non-compliant taxpayers to join the side of the majority before it gets too late and too bad. Our determination to facilitate compliant taxpayers while thrashing out non-compliant ones remains as unshaken as it has always been @StephenDhieu
