@hawkhampshire Fair enough. The consequence of shame being atonement? Orr needs to be in this team pronto.

Starmer is visiting the Middle East. Why? A pathetic attempt to gain relevance. But he will fool no one.

@IanPlayfair @headlinepg I have bought it. Is there any way I can keep up with the squad changes throughout the season, like a website for updates?

Last week's official sales figures have landed, & I'm delighted to say that the Playfair Cricket Annual was the No 1 bestselling non-fiction book across all formats. Thanks so much to all who bought it, to @headlinepg for a great job in getting it out, & booksellers everywhere.

Indeed. I did a series for the old Radio 5 in 1993, featuring those 5 you mentioned plus Osgood & Hudson. Half hour episodes. Great fun.
The ancient mariner 🇮🇲@D1ggaGa

@patmurphybbc Flair was not encouraged by Alf Ramsey or Don Revie. Stan Bowels, Tony Currie, Frank Worthington, Rodney Marsh, Charlie George. All Criminally underused. Failed to qualify for two World Cup with all these players at their disposal.

@hantscricket @VitalityBlast @vincey14 I think we should focus on our Championship shortcomings, don't you, as opposed to eulogising a player who is mostly a former player in that he isn't here for most of the time?

@Arron_banks Problem Arron, is if that is 1-4 % shave off the Reform vote share in a tight poll with three or four parties all clustered around similar percentages.

@WillCalverleyUK @JadenLister The people I know just think the Tories are a party of cheap foreign labour and mass immigration. Your party has gaslighted its traditional supporters for years. No more.

@JadenLister Mate if you think the Conservatives are a “woke, lefty liberal party”, you should have a look at your economic policies. And then after you’ve had a look at those, have a look at the failed “woke, lefty liberal” Tories you have all around you. Have a nice day.

From politically homeless to Reform UK 🇬🇧 As a young man I felt politically homeless. I’ve always had an old head on my shoulders and been right of centre, but none of the main parties spoke to me. Labour, the Lib Dems and the Greens never appealed to me because socialism is poisonous to this nation. It sounds like a great idea in theory, but you always run out of other people’s money, and it inevitably leads to authoritarianism or communism if you give them long enough in power. But the Conservatives? They lost their way and became a woke, lefty liberal party. By 2024 I didn’t know who to join but that’s when I found Reform UK and joined, I’ve not regretted it since. This is why I joined Reform UK. A party that actually stands for family, community, and country. No more establishment betrayal. Just common sense and putting Britain first again. 🇬🇧 #ReformUK

Almost 20,000 people have attended a Reform UK rally in this campaign so far. Many politicians will ask for your vote, but only Nigel Farage will invite you to a public meeting. 👏

@NoContextCounty No. Surrey will win the title. Warwickshire and Essex will be strong. Hants are simply relegation fodder.Div 2: perm two from Derbyshire, Lancs and Durham. Glos have been decimated and will finish bottom.

@PaveyOwen45415 @LancsCCMG The article doesn't say that though. Surrey has shown how to get a younger audience interested in watching red ball. They showed it the love and respect it deserved by publicising it to their online audience and making the match day experience as good as possible.

@hantscricket Didn't it used to be the case that your county cap was awarded to you after a period of achievement, eg. perhaps two or three seasons of scoring 1,000 runs? Now you get a county cap if you are picked for the first time.

@ToppersSnr @EssexCricket @SomersetCCC True and Essex have Cox to return. Essex need to ensure Hants' vastly superior turnover is never allowed to manifest itself via the lifting of the salary cap and a fully-fledged transfer market. Brown's comments after were as pathetic as his team, in my view.

A fantastic three day win for @EssexCricket and a day off for the bowlers who made Hampshire follow on. 5 for Critchley to add to his CB of 173, with Harmer taking 3wkts too. @SomersetCCC are next up on Friday at Chelmsford. What a way to start the 2026 County season!

@hawkhampshire Porter & Cook v Jack & Baker- Essex's proven fast-medium county bowlers who make the batsmen play almost every ball. The latter pair? Yeah, they can bowl quickly, bang it in, not make the batsmen play much and offer up a lot of four balls.

@StephenJ_S_7 You have Eddie Jack and Sonny Baker, two England Lions and bowlers with masses of potential. Also players who are learning all the time, particularly in red ball cricket. No shortage of talent. Loads of quality.

Instead of responding to the mountain of messages (ironic given my view currently) . Just like Saints’ start to the season or Pompey’s 6-1 defeat to QPR, you can’t judge a coach or a squad or a plan on one defeat. Shocker, yes. But a pointer for the next 13 matches? No.
