Yesterday afternoon the College of Canons of Durham Cathedral met to elect the Venerable Rick Simpson as the next Bishop of Durham. This ancient ceremony expresses the consent of the Diocese to Rick’s appointment, which the College did with great joy.

Today was an exciting day as Hugh Nelson was officially confirmed as our next Bishop of Worcester by the Bishop of London at a special ceremony at St Mary-le-Bow Church in London. He'll begin his ministry following his service of welcome on Sat 17 Jan, 2pm in the Cathedral.

The Crown Nominations Commission (CNC) is responsible for discerning who is called to be the next Archbishop of Canterbury. The diverse members of the commission include some representatives from across the Anglican Communion.
