Centrist. All political parties in Australia need a big kick up the arse, esp their factions. Issue, not partisanship. Fed ICAC now

@HeyFanelli @simonmaechling Going to have to bow out of this thread, CPU cooler just failed, and it won't be a quick fix (it is the wet season and roads often flood. Other week we had 1300mm over 3 days) Thank you for the intelligent, respectful discussion. It is rare as most end up with vitriol.

@Stephen___Burns @simonmaechling Sure, I can't be 100% positive as to ontology But likely died of vaccine-induced fibrosis ... she never once tested positive for viral infection during the development of symptoms Her medical team believed it to be a vaccine injury

@Stephen___Burns @simonmaechling Australia feels about the closest to the CCP's social credit system as I've experienced in the Western world ... and I travel a lot Not saying these things out of jealousy. I could immigrate to Oz if I wanted ... have desired skills No desire because your system's too uptight

@HeyFanelli @simonmaechling Hopkins admitted to breaking quarantine on SM, so she was deported We care about fellow citizens and 2 weeks in a hotel, on the govts tab and lockdowns (only parts of the country), while inconvenient, weren't a big ask. Death toll to 2021, in the US 700K, in Aust 1.7K

@Stephen___Burns @simonmaechling Have South Africa friends who immigrated to OZ. Same complaint, fines for everything. Americans often remark how over regulated Oz is ... not the free fun-loving façade it presents The whole Katie Hopkins episode during COVID and locking in/out your own citizens says a lot too

@HeyFanelli @simonmaechling You broke the law and were doing more than 2km/h over, that is the speed after deductions for accuracy of the camera and your car speedo $1200, you were ripped off, I assume that it was a rental - blame them. If they identified you as a driver it would have been about 20%

@Stephen___Burns @simonmaechling Native Australian? Probably why you're blind to it. First time I visited Australia, received $1200 USD in fines a month later for exceeding the speed limit by a mere 2km/hr a couple times in a 24hr period in Melbourne. Your pop would never think of non-compliance with police.

Total fake news 🙄 If you get a cancer diagnosis in Greenland right now, you may be flown, free of charge, to Denmark, to receive treatment, free of charge. In the U.S., it's darn near a death sentence. You end up either dead or broke. Why make stuff up like that, @USAmbUN?
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Waltz: "Denmark has ignored Greenland from a defense standpoint and they have ignored the Greenlandic native iniut people ... if you get a cancer diagnosis in Greenland right now, it's darn near a death sentence. Denmark has not invested in the way it should've over the years."

Going hard on a fascinating book about George Mallory and then Sir Edmund Hillary - who I interviewed - going after Everest. I am obsessed by it!

@sunflow15685280 Reminded me of a friend, for years during summer it was "I am going to the beach topless". She never did. Finally we just said do it. Next Monday she walks in very gingerly, we all burst out laughing, apparently burnt nipples are painfully inconvenient.

@Stephen___Burns @simonmaechling Australians and Kiwis tend to be very sheltered. You believe your strict police state is a marvel, and your social security systems unrivaled ... but things work better because you maintain an iron fist on whom you allow to immigrate. You're not a generous country.

@HeyFanelli @simonmaechling More whataboutism, the OP was about Europe vs the US. All you say is this person and that person or 2 small towns. Try getting back to the OP. As I said all countries have problems, nowhere is perfect. All western countries have Oligarch issues, it is just magnified in the US

@Stephen___Burns @simonmaechling How is that not a valid point? I know 5 people living in NZ and OZ ... proximate to my age. Perpetual renters, because they can't afford a home within a city center. While I had my own house, detached, on a 1400m2 lot by age 30. Abroad work hours tend to be lighter--pay worse.
