the doctors told us yesterday that they couldn't do anything more for my dad. i held his hand and said goodbye last night while we waited for life support to stop. we found out recently that he’d signed up for organ donation, and they found a match for his liver. he would've been so happy about that. sleep tight dad, see you in another dimension soon.

@mattspx You dad did so much with his time on earth and is doing so much more from above. When I lost my parents my friend told me that their time on earth was up because they had greater things to do from above. From reading all of the posts here it is clear your dad served his purpose

I had a HVAC technician at my house today performing my annual service. We got into a good conversation about his career path. He said he debated going to college for computer engineering/science but didn’t have the financial means to do so. He got a job as a HVAC tech right out of high school and hasn’t looked back. A few of his points really stuck with me: 1) He said his trade has a severe talent shortage. For every six guys retiring, only one new tech is joining the field. Crazy! 2) He said HVAC systems are turning into computers so his skillset is especially in demand and the pay is excellent. 3) He started his career with zero debt whereas his friends already have school loans the size of small mortgage payments. Just something to think about as we give the next generation career advice…

When my 14 year old "man sized" son got mad and yelled "why do I have to do dishes!" I was pissed. I did not lay hands on that child, but my first impulse was to slap him. I calmly walked up to him with my face 4 inches from his and stated simply, "because I will not release you into the wild without you knowing how to take care of yourself. Because it's no one else's job to take care of you. AND if someday you are lucky enough to find a woman to be your partner, then YOU will be an equal partner to HER!
