People flying from East Midlands Airport are now greeted with a totally refreshed security experience once they have checked in, following a major refurbishment😍 Finishing touches have now been made as part of a project to transform the security hall at East Midlands Airport, a key component of a five-year, £120m investment programme. @get_your_knives @BelvoirCastle I agree. Total shit show. Travelled from Peterborough to queue for hours, get stuck in mud, and watch a display from a hundred miles away. Our village fireworks where I live are so much better. Should have just stayed home 🤦🏻‍♀️

@BelvoirCastle absolute shambles!!! Paid over £100 and had to ditch the car 2 miles away and have given up even attempting to enter the event. Thousands upon thousands of car all queueing I’ve been in this since 5:30 absolute disgrace

East Midlands Airport has appointed a new Operations Director as it looks to an exciting future by growing its passenger and cargo operations. Lauren Turner takes up the post after working in a wide variety of roles at the airport since 2013 when she joined as a security officer. The airport’s ambitious growth plans present huge opportunities and challenges for its day-to-day operations – something Lauren says she is relishing. After completing a diploma in travel and tourism, she didn’t follow the path of many of her fellow female students into the airline world and says that deciding to work at an airport was “the best decision I have ever made,” opening up a wide variety of job opportunities. The world-famous Red Arrows will fly above East Midlands Airport in July as part of the airport’s diamond anniversary celebrations.✈️ An extended weekend of family fun days is to take place to mark the 60th anniversary of the airport’s official opening by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh on July 21 1965 – and crowds are set to be treated to flypasts by not only the Red Arrows but also aircraft from the RAF’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight unit. The airport is working in partnership with East Midlands Aeropark, the aviation museum and airport viewing area near Castle Donington, to host an open weekend on July 19, 20 and 21.
