@Keir_Starmer Absolutely spot on 💯
Thank you, Sir Keir. You’ve left Britain in a better place than you found it, and that’s the highest praise any Prime Minister can hope for. We’re proud of you, sir. ❤️
@BGatesIsaPyscho She tries to spin this round, like it's his fault!
My advice? Get yourself someone who's decent and loving, drop this loathsome woman, she's not worth it.
@YesterdaysBrit1 Still remember Pledge polish in tins. Back in the late 60's they had threepence off literally. Sellotaped to that tin was a threepenny bit!
@YesterdaysBrit1 Most people now days wouldn't have a clue how to convert old money into new, or vise versa.
I remember how large the old penny was and the half crown. It's no surprise why so my people had holes in their pockets 😂
@LeaderofKCC@darrengrimes Partly right. The Labour party did as they always do, go on a ridiculous spending spree, whilst ramping up taxes.
I didn't agree with the big sell off. Gas, water, electricity, British Rail, Royal Mail, Council houses. I found that just wrong.
I hate both Tory and labour.
I WAS around and can safely say that Thatcherism in the 1980s rescued this country from the socialist, strike-ridden, bankrupt, rubbish-strewn, non-productive joke country that Labour created in the 1970s.
Looks like we are heading back to the future with PM Burnham.
#GeneralElectionNow
Andy Burnham says Britain made a “series of wrong turns in the 1980s”.
Er, I wasn’t around, but the history books don’t exactly paint a pretty picture of the 1970s!
@YesterdaysBrit1 When I was a kid we had a Co-op bread van. you'd climb aboard the back. The man who sold the bread was so kind, he always had some jelly babies for me.
The bread back then was quality! Hovis was smaller, uncut and had a beautifully malty, nutty flavour. It made fantastic toast
Mother, may she rest in peace 🙏, was upset when I got my first job in 1985.
I was on £50 a week with a £20 Dewhurst voucher at Christmas. Of course, I gave it to her to buy the Christmas turkey with.
She said I could have done so much better.
Don't worry mum, your boy did okay!
@Simon_Nixon@OliverKamm Edward Heath sold this country down the river. He was the creep who signed us up to the EEC. within months, food prices went through the roof.
@OliverKamm Heath had a huge political achievement to his name which puts him above most on the list. Bit unfair on Chamberlain who at least rearmed. What exactly did Sunak achieve other than to defer every pressing issue to his successor? One above Truss surely?
No one will agree, and no one will care, but I decided this evening on my ranking of PMs of the past 100 years.
Churchill
Blair
Thatcher
Attlee
Macmillan
Callaghan
Major
Brown
Wilson
Heath
Sunak
Douglas-Home
Starmer
Cameron
May
Baldwin
MacDonald
Johnson
Eden
Chamberlain
Truss
@YesterdaysBrit1 Exactly!
And when all is said and done, a lot of the problems we had, stemmed from Edward Heath signing us up to the EEC, the forerunner to the EU.
Food prices went through the roof artificially because of beef mountains, wine lakes, milk lakes, and grain mountains.
I do love a good café but I'm increasingly aware that the water will be unfiltered and fluoridated, the milk will be full of Bovaer, the food cooked with seed oils and the bread full of folic acid. I'd love to see a café make a stand against these unwanted additions.
