I watched the first leg and Boro should have blitzed Southampton. Was the spy's message to try to let Boro have a headstart? It's naughty and it should be punished, but kicking a team out of the playoffs after a two-legged game that went to extra time, by the way, is absurd.

You shouldn't have played the first leg. Could have asked the efl to reschedule but you didn't. You played it. You dominated the first half, you failed to score from your three clear cut chances. We won the second leg fair and square. Stop crying and prepare for next season.

@TigersXtra And I am no fan of Wrexham. I thought it brilliant that Hull got in and they didn't. But then Southampton came out as cheats, so their position in the league can't be seen as real.

@TigersXtra Might be controversial, but I think Southampton should be thrown out and Boro play Wrexham in a 1 off game for who makes the final. Any game involving Southampton should be voided. Or restart the playoffs with Hull 5th and Wreham 6th.

Might be on my own but I genuinely don’t see Boro being put in the final a reasonable sporting merit. They lost over two legs and how much those results were impacted by spygate can only be considered marginal. I feel for them but they are trying to blag a Wembley app #hcafc

@slbsn On point 4. If it is found to have happened elsewhere, explusion from the playoffs is the only rational option. Accompanied by a 3 year football ban for Ekhert and his staff.

🚨🤓 Southampton Spygate personal view: 1. Expect the breaches will be straightforward to establish (ie liability) and almost certainly admitted to try and get some sanction credit/discount 2. Expect aggravating factors such as other examples of Soton spying this year to be raised 3. Fundamental question of how serious a breach of rule 127 and good faith is will be key. We know good faith alone was £200k in the Leeds case. The new rule makes it worse and spying obviously seeks a sporting advantage - why else do it? So that does point to sporting sanction of some sort 4. Being thrown out of the Play Offs appears excessive especially given Southampton finished 7 points clear of 6th and 9 clear of 7th 5. A 3-0 in the first leg would have been an option again excessive retrospectively unless 2nd leg re-playable (not feasible) 6. More likely sanction is points deduction next season in the Championship as much as that won't help Middlesboro 7. Unlikely that the PL will take a points deduction recommendation from the EFL (no fixed rule) - doubt EFL will push for it, so would apply in first season back in Championship (when and if) 8. My best guess is SIX EFL points in first season in EFL and £500k-£1m fine 9. Boro compensation claim can be dealt with separately subject to any claim brought by Boro - difficult claim to establish due to causation issues

Only way I can see Southampton get kicked is if there is concrete proof that they spied at many other clubs and it’s systemic Other than that, I think the EFL are dragging this too much. Worst case I can see is a minor points deduction

Huge fine and points deduction is enough. Boro were fired up on the 1st leg and it showed, battered saints for 60mins but couldn’t score. Supposedly better away from home. 2nd leg no cheating and lost. Expulsion doesn’t fit the crime but saints should feel ashamed

Millwall vs Boro one off tie neutral venue. Both losing teams who played within the laws of the game and played sportingly. Winner plays Hull. It should be very straight forward for the EFL but they can never make a sensible decision
