@SteveBottoms

Retired. Always worked in the private sector. Owned a small business. No pension. Lived beneath my means, saved for the future.

@SteveBottoms You need to take it up with the Boomers, I'm afraid. I'm just speaking the truth.

@cselley Stop it with this Boomers love Carney stuff. Unless you’re referring to Ontario Boomers. They love a free lunch.

Because they don't ACTUALLY care about mail. They just despise change. If someone they trust offers change, they'll go along.

Canada added ~1 million jobs in a decade GOVERNMENT JOBS Government jobs grew 60% faster than private sector jobs 27,000 federal employees now make $150,000+ per year Public sector productivity declined 0.3% per year during the same period Costing Canada an estimated $32 BILLION in lost GDP The economist behind the study said it plainly: “You cannot have an economy with decent standards of living where the majority of what’s going on is government growth.” Canadians just re-elected the party that built this. And they manufactured a majority to keep going. I see where this is headed.

Do YOU feel you're getting good service from the federal government? 🫵 If you're not so sure, you're not alone. In fact, only 16% of people say yes. Our federal civil service is growing, but the results aren't. We can make efficiency a priority in Canada's civil service. 🇨🇦
Build Canada@build_canada

Our federal public civil service headcount has grown 31% in the last decade. Per capita, that's more than anywhere in the (core) G7. Despite this, only 16% of Canadians say they receive good value from government services. We can reform 🇨🇦's federal public service. 👇

In any normal universe, everyone involved in this, including @gregorrobertson, would be fired.

Project managers originally planned to find 30 homeless gay veterans in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax to take photos with free cameras. Records show the $1.2 million @HICC_ca project started late and had difficulty finding gay homeless veterans.

@DianaBatten_ Hmmm … yet when the public sector hold the private sector hostage for deficit causing wage increase and entitlements you’re cool with easing taxes?!? 🤨

If they wanted to, they would. The UCP could provide Albertans relief TODAY by dropping the provincial gas tax. But they won't. If only the UCP remembered who they work for.... #yycAcadia #ableg #communities

@TristinHopper The disease you are referring to is “entitlement”. Even within my fiscally conservative boomer friends - a condition which leads to deflection and denial. We protested far away injustices in the 60’s then became content to make our way, willfully blind to future effect.

Canada's last decades has been a cascade of people overlooking monstrous things because they were guilted into shutting up. I don't see much difference in older people, even conservative ones, saying we shouldn't notice we live in a system that overwhelmingly favours the aged at the expense of the young.

What's truly mind-boggling about all the debt is how it was wasted. Nothing was built. Nothing was improved. One of the greatest outlays of cash in the history of our species was squandered on nothing.
Tristin Hopper@TristinHopper

When I was 19, I though that if Canada just decided to blow out the budget with wartime deficits for a few years, we could pepper the landscape with infrastructure and be set for decades. We *did* blow out the deficit, and literally everything is worse everywhere forever.

@peteremcc The should start their own party and face the embarrassment and ignominy of all previous separatist parties in the province.

How many of them signed the petition to have a pro-separation referendum in Alberta? How many of them would vote “yes” in such a referendum? In my view, either action should disqualify one for membership in a truly United Conservative Party of Alberta.
Danielle Smith@ABDanielleSmith

These are the incredible folks doing the hard work behind the scenes for conservatism. Our UCP constituency presidents are the ones organizing events, raising funds, finding great candidates, and keeping everything running smoothly. I am very grateful for everything they do to keep Alberta moving forward and yes, keeping it a beautiful blue.
