Rachel Corrie, a human rights activist, was killed in Gaza in 2003 at the age of 23 while trying to stop the Israeli military from demolishing a Palestinian home.
An Israeli military bulldozer, a US-made Caterpillar D-9, struck and killed her. The bulldozer later became widely associated with home demolitions. Her brutal murder continues to be cited in calls for accountability and in debates over US-supplied military equipment used in operations targeting civilians.
