Whole season basically got ripped up the moment the 3 injuries happened, we all knew it deep down just didn’t want to accept it. We’re punching above our weight anyway when they were fit. It’s Europa league or bust now else Emery & Rogers will be gone in the summer.

Missive tells us of ‘Heating Outage in the Palace’ (of Westminster) & we’re advised to ‘dress appropriately’ until it’s fixed. Maintenance guys work miracles keeping this crumbling building going, so mustn’t grumble. (Don’t bother with ‘enough hot air’ jokes; heard them all!)

@SteveHowell30 @JamesHandscombe @cierzo1 Humans are curiously bizarre - and agree with Steve around vagueness. It’s like the phrase “inappropriate behaviour” in behaviour reports - what’s persistent for one or another might be different. Maybe we need to present an answer Steve?

A pupil excluded for being “a bit cheeky”. Label: Persistent disruptive behaviour. Used in 40% of exclusions — with no definition. When the system uses a “ropey code” to erase children, the problem isn’t behaviour. It’s leadership.

@rlrossi64 @JamesHandscombe @cierzo1 Yes, this is a very fair point and, I think, far more true today than it was 15 or so years ago (when I first joined a PRU)!! At least, our understanding of it is far better!

@JamesHandscombe @cierzo1 No, not a clear plan. But I do think doing something along the lines of the attendance coding may help… (c code springs to mind) far more choice. Or a main and secondary code to aid description perhaps.

@SteveHowell30 @cierzo1 Thank you for the explanation. I see that the vagueness is a disadvantage, but I don’t see how to unvague it without straightjacketing schools. Do you have a plan?

@JamesHandscombe @cierzo1 And I think it needs to be clearer. I actually see far fewer permanent exclusions that I question now than I did 10-15 years ago.

@JamesHandscombe @cierzo1 Having commented for this article, I want to be crystal clear that I am not seeing pupils permanently excluded for low level disruption. The reason I think it’s a ropey code is because it’s so generic. It can mean anything. Assault, for example, is clear cut. This isn’t….
