Around this time in the 1970s, Sunday Lunch would be cooking as we awaited our Regional Football on the ITV Network. Yorkshire TV give us Sunday Sport & Football Special with Keith Macklin and later Martin Tyler. Granada TV had The Kick Off Match with Gerald Sinstadt. ATV (Midlands) had Star Soccer with Hugh Johns. Anglia TV give us Match Of The Week with Gerry Harrison. Tyne-Tees TV had ‘Shoot’ with Ken Wolstenholme and later Roger Tames. LWT had The Big Match with Brian Moore. HTV give us Soccer Hour with various commentators: Roger Malone, Bob Symonds, and Graham Miller. Southern TV aired Southern Soccer, or The Southern Big Match, with a host of commentators: John Camkin, Gerry Williams, Martin Tyler, Dave Lanning, Nigel King, and David Bobin. Westward TV very rarely showed matches from their own region and would often take in LWT's The Big Match Scottish TV had Scotsport with Arthur Montford You would see a local game then highlights of one or two other games from the ITV regions, if your local region didn’t have a game, they would usually show another region's full programme. These were great days on the ITV regional network which sadly came to an end at the end of the 1982/83 season. Sunday afternoons were special then in the 1970s.
