Tonight is Exhibit A as to why it's oh-so-risky to need other teams to lose to get you in the playoffs. The Flyers, who #ALLCAPS need to lose in regulation tonight, are playing a Carolina lineup that's closer to being suited for the Greater Triangle Semi-Pro League.

@CityofBowie Tell that to the truck crews. I'm in a Tuesday pickup area and the recycle truck just did a drive-through because none of us had the blue cans out -- thinking it was shifted to tomorrow.

I understand that the Olympic organizers want to be on their schedule -- especially when you need to get everyone to the closing ceremony venue. BUT, the hockey curmudgeon in me will ALWAYS be in favor of 5-on-5 for as long as it takes.

When part of your coverage taps into the world feed production, you run the risk of less-than-network-standards quality. BOTH overtime gold medal goals have unfortunate of not showing the goal-scorer immediately.

Some time in the early evening tonight, we'll have the 46th anniversary of Renee Pouissant spoiling the result of the USA-USSR game on Washington's Channel 7. The game was played at 5 pm Eastern, but ABC showed it on tape delay.

Why does needing to go to church have to get in the way of my religious experience? Will be listening to @iHeartRadio Olympics channel and Kenny Albert's still-a-radio-guy-at-hear call of the 2nd period. I'll confess this -- I MIGHT have the game on my phone during the sermon.

@TedStarkey Canada = hockey. USA? Not then. Heck, DC was still looking for its first winning season and, I believe, it's first-ever win over the Phlyers.

@SteveRep44 Ha - although CBC aired the game live. So Buffalo and Detroit and other border towns knew.

@TedStarkey Absotively. Then again, the game would have been a) aired live and b) been the second of the two games played for prime time.

@TedStarkey If you didn't live in the DC market, very likely you didn't know. The "information super-highway" was a dirt road with horse and buggy back then.
