Former Oiler Chris Pronger joined the Jason Gregor Show today and addressed Kevin Lowe’s LinkedIn rant about his “drunken decision” to sign an extension with Edmonton back in 2006. Pronger called it a moment of weakness. He also shut down the idea that his wife ever sent a note to Kevin Lowe saying she was excited to come to Edmonton. Despite everything, Pronger made it clear he loved his time with the Oilers. He praised his teammates, the coaching staff, and the organization, saying he was treated first class as an Oiler.

Yesterday, my six-year-old son had his first Little League game of the year. I absolutely kid you not when I say I think at least a third of the parents on the team truly believe their son will one day make the major leagues.

@planert41 Just wait until they no longer nap and stay up as late as you do. Definitely find a way to carve out time for yourself. If you spend 3 hours a week in the gym you'll get more than that back in extra energy.

@AndrewStoeten @death2likes Thats probably fair. Lost one of their better hitters. Got huge surprise seasons from springer and Kirk. They certainly have a chance to win division but I wouldn't bet on it and they might not be my pick for most like to win it.

As I said in this one, the Jays took nearly a quarter of the season to find themselves last year, then played on a 100-win pace for the better part of five months, THEN did what they did in the playoffs. This year they’re coming in fully formed. Underestimate them at your peril.

@AndrewStoeten I remember thinking a team was fully formed so many times in the past. None of those times did it turn out that they really were fully formed. Im excited too but there are concerns about offense and bullpen.

Barry Bonds just told an interesting story on the broadcast. He said George Steinbrenner told him the Yankees would give him the money he wanted, but only if he signed the contract by 2 p.m. Bonds decided to go back to San Francisco. This would've been the 1992-93 offseason.

@Baseball4Brains I suppose then players who want a winning culture should give money back when they grossly underperform.

@SteveVanDie I just think it’s a brutal way to think about building a winning culture. Sanchez’s previous deal with criminally low for the value he provides, and even with the extension he’s still a huge bargain. I believe taking care of and keeping core pieces happy is a huge piece.

Despite reports that Kade O’Rourke has been granted early entry into the OHL, I’m told no players have received exceptional status for next season as of now.

When I pulled out of my hotel this morning, I saw just one (1) person on the streets of Clearwater Beach. They were dressed as Santa Claus. Where were they coming from? Where were they going? Perhaps even they do not know.

@SteveVanDie Definitely an option. I’m just not sold they’ll do that and leave the pen a little short, especially early in the season. I could easily be wrong about that though.

With Scherzer looking this ready, this quickly, I’m genuinely curious how the #BlueJays line up the rotation to start the season. Fans may not like it, but starting Yesavage in Buffalo and keeping his IP down early may be the play. I don’t think you can put Ponce in the pen.

Is there really any reason to not ship out Carlo now when they already moved Roy and may do so with OEL? He doesn't have a ton of term, hasn't been a good fit, and teams want RHD still. Another case where maybe they really should just be taking advantage of the current market
