@Steve_53_M @TopLobsta @james_restall You’re the one claiming apostolic tradition I’m showing you in scripture is human tradition… your whole theology is man made bro… what’s baptism for

You belong to a collective of pharisee. I read the bible and have a living relationship with God. Now go and worship some poorly drawn idol you stupid bitch.
James Resteau@james_restall

@TopLobsta Exactly like your recently-invented low IQ cult: 45,000+ (and growing) Protestant sects - all with their own traditions of (heretical) men. Good luck when Christ tells you that He never knew you; and, to depart into eternal unquenable fire - burning up the chaff. 😉

Because you're arguing for the infallibility of your church and its councils based on the teachings of man about the Bible rather than attempting to read and understand the Bible inside its own context. Prioritizing unity and tradition in the church over the reconciled relationship with the Father that Christ died for. Making the church itself your idol.

The individuals on the council have no authority to state which books are or aren't canon. That is the job of the Holy Spirit. The people who use the Ethiopian Bible believe it is the Word of God and divinely inspired. Why else would they have it canonized? This is a stupid claim.

@Steve_53_M @TopLobsta @james_restall lol no it’s not you have no authority to state which books are or arnt inspired…. The apocryphal books in the Ethiopian bible was never viewed as infallible even by those who used it lol Like I said…. Apples and oranges

You're again ignoring the whole context inside the Bible... again ignoring how Jesus Himself will put out the lampstands of rebellious churches. Matthew 7:21-23 "21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’" This is not an either-or fallacy.

Funny cause Christ says He came to cause division. Luke 12:51. And Paul talking to Mark didn't say traditions he said doctrines. Rom 16:17 "I urge you, brothers and sisters, to keep your eyes on those who cause dissensions and create obstacles or introduce temptations [for others] to commit sin, [acting in ways] contrary to the doctrine which you have learned. Turn away from them." Your traditions and counsils are creating dissensions and obstacles.

@Steve_53_M @TopLobsta @james_restall Odd cause Paul says to Mark and avoid those that reject said traditions and to schizm or faction from the church holding them is a damnable offense… u are you read the bible?

No, I didn't. Nor is "sola scriptura" my position. I know the early church didn't have a standardized canon; that's why I said that the Council of Nicaea wasn't the first attempt to standardize the canon. This is already incorporated into my worldview. Claiming the Ethiopian bible was never canon is based on the same logic that I reject your church's authority.

@Steve_53_M @TopLobsta @james_restall Who said it was decided at nicea you just proved the church wasn’t sola scriptura btw they had no officiall canon in antiquity Ethiopian bible was never canon lol we have councils and criteria to navigate these things…. Kinda my whole point… those accusations don’t work w us

@Steve_53_M @TopLobsta @james_restall We’ve never usurped Christs salvation so work we preach it…. Explain to me how the Holy Spirit being present when two believers come together logically concludes that the spirit doesn’t work through councils as we see him do? Did two or three laymen come together or bishops?

"Of one mind" inside the context of the Bible means to have the will of the Father as the primary objective, submitted to the authority of God. The traditions don't mean the works in and of themselves are salvational, which only faith can do (in fact, those are dead works without faith in Christ). Laying of hands, tongues, healings, and whatnot are signs of the movement of the Holy Spirit, not a precondition of a church. You're adding conditions to what a church is. The Greek word, ekklesia, is translated to church but means assembly or called-out ones. So it calls back to the simpler definition of church in Matthew 18:20.

@Steve_53_M @TopLobsta @james_restall He’s present yes…. Two believers coming together isn’t a church the Bible describes a church as being of one mind w foundational doctrines authority laying of hands and traditions

The Council of Nicaea wasn't the first attempt to make a canon. Why it stuck could be a movement of the Holy Spirit or it could be the brute force of the Roman Empire. It also ignores the Ethiopian Bible. Which has more books than the RC and EO bible. "Why DiD YoU rEmOve tHoSE bOOks?" The reasons for each book's removal are individual, just like what happened in the Counsil of Nicea, and some I believe were mistakenly removed. I review and read apocrypha. I do not submit to the label of Protestantism, nor do I subject myself to their standards.

No. I'm intellectually rejecting, using the Word of God, your church's attempt to usurp the salvational work of Christ. You call it councils, but the promise is that the Holy Spirit works when 2 or 3 gather in Christ's name, Matthew 18:20. Their position inside a human hierarchy is irrelevant; what matters is their submission to God.

@Steve_53_M @TopLobsta @james_restall You’re just emotionally ranting at this point… the Holy Spirit works in councils… it seems good to “us (bishops) and the Holy Spirit”

@Steve_53_M @TopLobsta @james_restall So surely you can tell me where you got the authority to rip books out of the Bible and where the Bible lists what books belong in it? And can you show me your view of baptism in scripture?

@Okthenmayb45071 @TopLobsta @james_restall The foundation is Christ, as exemplified by the thief on the cross. The rest are superfluous works that are important (as faith without works is dead) but not absolute. Only faith in Christ's work leads to salvation. If they aren't listed in the Bible, they do not matter.

@Steve_53_M @TopLobsta @james_restall Also tell me what are all the foundational doctrines since Paul only lists some and points to the church for the rest. Imagine thinking contextual epistles over specific issues that point to the church for the entrusted deposit are full theological manuals
