I’ll try to give a nuanced answer on here, but Twitter is a bad place for that. For the Chiefs, my thought is they have Mahomes coming back, and it’s very unlikely they’re so beat up again. They’ll have injuries of course, but Rice and Simmons each played eight games, and Worthy got hurt three games into the season. Defensively, there are a ton of new pieces. My belief is Spags will have them playing well by the mid point. Secondary is a wild card. It’s talented but youthful. For the Chargers, I like Herbert. I like the coach. I love Tuipolutu and Derwin, and the LBs are underrated. My concern is a tougher schedule, the IOL and not adding someone to help McConkey in the WR room. I also love the Medford pick, but I don’t like losing Oweh. Overall, I think they’re a .500 team because of the pass-game limitations and the loss of Minter. That said, if I’m wrong, I’ll eat my words

A national SI reporter (known chiefs Homer) has the Chiefs going 12-5 and the Chargers going 8-9. How haven’t the Chargers upgraded anything? They upgraded the Oline and significantly upgraded at OC. Alt and Slater. Sure I’ll grant you Oweh, since Mesidor is a rookie but common @MattVerderame. The Chargers were top 5 in defense last season. Meanwhile, the Chiefs who were going to miss the playoffs even before the Mahomes injury, will be relying on rookies on defense. Couldn’t rush the passer. Mahomes coming off an injury, Kenneth Walker who is good, but can’t stay healthy being the #1 RB. Oh, and the same WR room that was objectively terrible last season.
