@3tripsc I couldn’t disagree more. I’d say the disconnect is covid golfers and everyone else. Bryson is a clown show.

And you guys wonder why Bryson doesn't want to talk to the media. I don't know if there's been a greater disconnect between the fans and media view of a golfer than with Bryson DeChambeau.
Kevin Van Valkenburg@KVanValkenburg

Bryson used to admire Bobby Jones, the man who drew millions to the game with his integrity. These days, he’s become something else, a circus act, and it’s showing us there are downsides to “Growing the Game.” thefriedegg.com/articles/2026-…

@JosephLaMagna It is! I just think a 39-year-old journeyman showing up and finishing T11 in his first U.S. Open is more impressive than a 24-year-old finishing down the field in all four.

The margins of major golf. 🟡 Cam Young hit a cut that landed 292 yards (yellow X below). It rolled into the left side of the bunker, he made bogey and finished -9. ⚪️ Ryan Fox hit a cut that landed 282 yards (white X). It skirted the bunker, he made birdie and finished -10.

@SteveCampy Realistically you probably just can’t read greens. Stroke is fine. If anything I’d say maybe take it back a little further, can see you rushing it and pushing it when you’re trying to force it in with that short backstroke.

Can someone who is good at golf please tell me what I’m doing wrong with my putting stroke? I know it’s not pretty. It’s Zalatoris levels of ugly.

Bryson trying to call the president and stomping his feet / arguing for 45 minutes doesn’t feel performative. Just signals to me how much he knew and fully believed he didn’t break the rule. He’s still a reasonable person, don’t think he’d go to this lengths if he thought he could be wrong on that. Imagine being accused of lying and cheating in a massive moment, if you 100% knew you were in the right, it’d be silly to NOT argue it to the fullest extent. Of course those that already don’t like you will view that through a negative lens, but who cares.

Hey Clay, whether you agree with his politics or not, the man put in a decade plus, that was his livelihood. And in terms of breaking down the game, he more than held his end of the bargain. Is it really worth the likes and engagement to kick someone when they are already down?
Clay Travis@ClayTravis

ESPN firing Ryan Clark and leaking the news to @outkick writers to break is just chef’s kiss perfect. Sanity is finally winning and wiping the floor with the woke sports universe.

@ByronYork Maybe it was because Bryson acted like an absolute child. Partially the R&A’s fault for allowing him to be driven back out there to put on a show, but also Bryson’s fault for acting like that and then threatening to quit.

It appears that some of the anti-Bryson DeChambeau commentary has softened a bit now that the British Open is over. The harshness of Friday's discussion -- "He did everything but lay down behind it or take a weed whacker to the tall grass," said the Golf Channel's Brandel Chamblee -- faded by Sunday, probably because of 1) the understanding comments of players Max Homa, Sam Burns, and Scottie Scheffler; 2) the crowd's clear support of DeChambeau; and 3) DeChambeau's continued play, even though he faded to -4 and T14. Why such a sharp reaction Friday? Some of it was certainly just a dispute about the rules, but some of it also seemed to be about LIV. A post-LIV reconciliation still seems a long way away.

Rory called Bryson DeChambeau “performative”. This video is a pretty fair argument that Rory is being a bit of hypocrite. A full minute of Rory acting a bit immature. Under the new rules, there are multiple 2 stroke penalties here.

The entire anti-LIV golf media ecosystem worked OT to deny Bryson Dechambeau the Claret Jug (pregame to fake penalty to Saturday’s gaslighting). Thinking they’d make way for a PGA TOUR golden boy. Instead. End up with 39-yo journeyman Ryan Fox. Super worthy like champ like Aaron Rai. But. Same one-off juice. Karma AF.

OK, hand up, I was wrong about this. I thought saying four back was too far back was absurd because there were seven rounds of -4 or better today. I also wanted more on *why* Bryson -- who hit it so well the first three days -- couldn't shoot -4 or better instead of just, "He's too far back." But fair play to Kiz. None of the -4s or better came late in the day, and he believed that's how the golf course was going to play out. I'll head back to my newsletter shanty and draw up some new takes.
Kevin Kisner@K_Kisner

@KylePorterNS I seriously don’t get you and how you pick and choose what you use of what I say to attack me. I’ve never met you or heard of you. I also said that only 5 of the last 18 guys broke par yesterday and only two lower than 68 so that makes total sense to me.

YouTube golfers legitimately put together a better production than these commercial broadcast companies. You can see every shot from multiple angles with accurate shot tracers. I get one is live and the other is compiled, but they could learn a lot from the way YouTubers film and present their rounds.
