It’s pretty funny how the universe works.
In January 2024, I sent a DM to Jordan Spieth.
Charlie Golf launched 2 months earlier in Nov 2023. We sold out of 250 toddler golf bags in those first couple of months.
I was on top of the world.
The vision of kid’s with our golf bags at The Masters Par 3 contest came to me.
I immediately thought of Spieth.
So I fired a DM.
No response. But that was to be expected.
We kept building our brand and telling story over the next two years. And luckily an opportunity arose.
We jumped on it and gave it our best shot. You never know when opportunities like this will come up. We had to take advantage.
Fast forward over 2 years later and our bags were being carried by the Spieth family at Augusta National.
Manifestation at its finest.

The one time I got the invite of a lifetime, to play Augusta National, it was only a few weeks before The Masters. On property was Rory, Shane Lowry, Tom Brady, Scottie, the Chairman, Jimmy Dunne and more … it was power-packed and I was dizzy with the visuals.
On the course, which I played twice on that trip, it exceeded expectations. The walk was a lot of things, but if I were to use one word, it’d be “glorious.” Or, “magnificent.” Something I wouldn’t normally use to describe a round of golf.
And to play it requires “precision.” Which, for any golfer, but especially an amateur, is what makes it so difficult. We are not precise like they are. And from the tips, playing hard and fast, it’s the demand for that extreme level of precision that even tests The Best. Lies are so tight. Edges are so clean. Slopes are so extreme. Speeds are unlike anything we’ve seen.
From the member’s tees, rattle-bottom, I can’t imagine breaking 100 on a day like today. I would set over-under at 105. And for context: My current Index is 7.1, I have decent length, struggle with iron play, streaky short game and I consider myself a good putter. That being said, there would be plenty of bets on the over. Rightfully so.
Every shot, from tee to green, and then on the greens, requires strategy and skill. It’s relentless. Right, left, up, down. Get out of position, you pay. Dearly. It beats you down with a southern genteel charm, leaving you humbled and, at times, embarrassed. And I left with so much more respect for what these guys do and how they do it. (And mind you, I had a lot of respect going in.) The scores they card?! Unfathomable.
This week in particular, buckle up. It’ll be defensive. Destructive. Demoralizing. More middle fingers and slammed clubs. A guess on winning score? It might just be -5.

Here’s the video again. You’ll see a small white object appear as he’s finishing his follow-through………

I've been watching the masters with my family (most of whom have never watched golf) and I got the opportunity to explain the full lore behind the Bob MacIntyre 2nd ball theory. It felt like showing caveman electricity

@spidagoats @benji_harper17 You said if the cycle is broken then it’s easier to get tickets for other games. Nothing about season ticket.
English

@benji_harper17 Yeh but I want LP so I can get a season ticket
English

Another one???? Like I genuinely don’t understand how this many members struggle to get tickets
Benji@benji_harper17
Yes touting is a big problem, but if you can’t get home tickets this season then it’s a skill issue, arguably the easiest it’s ever been the exchange is flooded every week

@EnglandOnOurWay What’s the difference between ‘heading out to Florida’ and ‘heading to Florida’ ??
What is the purpose of using the word ‘out’…?

All of Leeds’ games have been on TNT Sports. No surprise that yet again we aren’t on terrestrial tv, we make the broadcasters too much money #LUFC

The schedule for the #EmiratesFACup semi-finals has been announced 🏆

@J_Tanswell @pjwac It was always going to happen. It’s been known for weeks that these strikes will impact travel.
Just because it was announced late by your airline, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have had a contingency in place if you ‘obviously’ need to be back.
English

@pjwac 🤣🤣 mine was cancelled as I got to the airport, thanks Paul

@flushingitgolf Bloke knows he won’t be in contention if the greens are too fast.
This is him trying to get the groundsmen to keep moisture in the greens.

Justin Rose once again got off to a good start at the Masters shooting an opening 2 under par 70 to be T6.
After the round he spoke about the challenges of a firm Augusta National and joked that it may be a “yellow jacket” this year for the winner:
“I think overall a good start. Just big-picture, kind of knew the course was going to be playing tricky today, especially this afternoon. Yesterday was quite a windy day. This morning was cold. I thought it was going to take a lot of the moisture out of the golf course.
“Obviously it was a beautiful afternoon. Wind laid down a little bit. It was nice to play out there. Obviously my day, yeah, spoiled a little bit by two late bogeys, but other than that, I think a good start to the tournament.”
“You might get a yellow jacket if you win. They might look a bit different color, yeah. I don't know (laughing).
“Listen, I think it would be nice if it's still -- the shot values are still there. There's firm to a point, right? I think that's a great golf. When it gets completely rock hard and you can't access any pin anywhere, then it just becomes -- a lot of good shot-making it taken out of the equation.
“We'll see how they -- I think it's in their control really how they want it to be. But, yeah, I think overall every player would say they would like it firm and fast, but I think there's, like, a boundary to that.”
Justin Rose has finished runner up 3 times in the last 11 years at the Masters, including twice in a playoff. It would be a fantastic story if he were to contend once again this weekend.

@NelsonsGolfTips Winning punters don’t get given boosts. You’re a loser.
English

@AdamCrafton_ You mean, the exact conditions they’ll be subjected to throughout the tournament? I’m sure the players are going to hate that 🥴
Such a mong.

@Josh77050971 @Lukeyboy_CFC So you heard wrong? What a fucken surprise!

A hilarious story that has developed at @TheMasters are 🎟️ resellers with extra daily access on a 4 day badge. They are not only sacred to sell to the public but also sacred to sell to other resellers.
In this day and time you can’t trust anyone a source told me this morning.
“I’m way more worried about another reseller saying a good badge was taken by the Augusta National than a patron.”

You can get Matsuyama at -118 to beat Morikawa in R1 at DK btw
I’m sure Morikawa is good enough to play, but he’d be out there even if he wasn’t. Just crazy you can get that line priced as if he’s 100% fully healthy. Appears he isn’t with his lack of driver range sessions and lower ball speed.

@ClockEndMaxx What’s the difference between booked and ‘fully booked up’ ?
What would ‘fully booked down’ mean?

@greggislocallfc Absolute fucking losers. Any chance of not being a sheep and doing something for yourself?
