The main thing working against Notre Dame was the mandate from whoever/insert power broker that decided the SEC was getting five teams in no matter what. Alabama team with three losses and such a horrendous showing in the SEC championship game should not have gotten in over Notre Dame four teams from the SEC would’ve been just fine.
