@PaqWilly @arrington I work for a lumber yard chain and have never understood this... We carry several lengths/widths of "5/4" boards. We occasionally have a customer try to return their "2x4" because its a half inch off what they thought it should be.

@arrington The lunacy of modern standardized lumber measurements is best described when buying true 1 inch thick boards, you have to ask for 5/4".

Something I've learned the hard way is that a 2x4 isn't actually 2 inches by 4 inches. It used to be, but not anymore because of course.

@teslaloosa I run into this on I-74 between Indy and Cincy a lot.. It is signed 70mph the entire length, but the car will switch to 65 in certain places despite passing no speed limit signs. And FSD will slow down with it.

Heading west on Hwy 82 out of Tuscaloosa FAD on the HW4 Model Y is consistently displaying the wrong speed limit (it's 65 here) but driving like it knows the correct limit. FSD hurry mode. 🤷‍♂️

@Teslarati Allow users to adjust the speed targets on the profiles. And fix the behavior of the profiles... sometimes they don't seem to matter. Hurry or even Mad Max will often go 5-10 under the limit. and sometimes will not speed up when the limit increases.

🚨 What improvements would you like to see Tesla make with the next Full Self-Driving version? For me, it's going to be: ☑️ Better parking ☑️ More assertiveness at intersections ☑️ Better speed reduction when entering slower Speed Limit zones

@TheSolarShed Wish it was easier here in the US. It's stupidly expensive unless you DIY; nearly every company doing it is seemingly just barely above car dealers on the scum-o-meter. And some electric companies are downright hostile towards it.

Each one of these solar panels cost around £100 At today's rates, each has produced electricity to the value of £1400 They will be 8 yrs old in June. Now tell me that solar energy doesn’t work in cloudy old Britain

@trinick @Wisdom_HQ Current hydrogen vehicles use gaseous hydrogen pressurized to 10k PSI/700 bar in order to store enough. Gaseous hydrogen doesn't need to be maintained at cold temps. Liquid H2 does need to be, and will off-gas if not, making it useless for vehicle use.

@Wisdom_HQ what about that possibly sounds illegal? the reason we don’t use this is that hydrogen needs to be supercooled into a liquid to have high enough energy density to make any sense. and the combustion of hydrogen doesn’t have any serious benefits over gasoline except environmental

@Wisdom_HQ This is a concept that has been making the rounds on the Internet for years. However the physics of hydrogen would not allow for such a thing to actually exist.

deeply annoying to me that it's not legal to drive a golf cart on city roads for local trips to the grocery store etc golf carts are way more pro-social than cars; easy to stop and chat to neighbors, interact with other drivers, etc i'm a golf cart maximalist

As a computer technician, I am not a fan of these External Hard Drives. Almost all of the time they're merely just a normal SATA hard drive with a cheap adapter connected. These adapters always tend to break/stop working. I've seen many such cases. It happened to mine today...

@daijones1953 @Moonpans The landing was captured with a early electronic camera that was transmitted back to Earth where it was recorded. All the footage captured this way doesn't look the best due to the tech limits at the time. The best footage was all captured on 16mm film cameras.

@SeanTourangeau @StarTrek It's "Saved By The Bell" basically, but in the far future. Was never a fan of that genre of "teen" shows. I made it through a few episodes, but it just isn't for me. Acting is a bit cringe-worthy, more so than other Star Trek shows. And I am saying this as a Star Trek fan.

Well I watched the whole first season of #starfleetacademy and to me it missed more than hit for me. I give it a C- , I know a lot of folks will hate my opinion either way. @StarTrek really is not targeting my Demographic anymore. That being said I’ll tune in next season to see if it get any better.

I can’t wait for the moment this dumbass realizes that a phone (perhaps several) was taken out, and more than a picture was taken. And that’s the key reason the subpoena was approved. How do I know? Because I watched a video in a congressional office November 2024 that corroborates the claims in their entirety. It wasn’t mine to share, so I’ve sat back and watched Garrett Archer continue to make an ass out of himself. He has no real sources, is sitting in the dark, and the Maricopa Board of Supervisors are sitting on an active crime scene. Let him keep digging.

The hero had the story of the century right in front of him and forgot to whip out his phone and take a pic? This whole affidavit is written like bad political thriller fan fiction.

Battle: Los Angeles, 15 years old today, aimed to be Black Hawk Down meets Independence Day... and it's almost brilliant. Great cast, killer concept, technical marvel... and that’s what makes it maddening. It’s right on the edge. We need a redo: tighter script, less shaky cam.

@LithiumFarmer The silicon will be fine. The cadmium, germanium, indium and tellurium could be more problematic. Selenium, but hey our soils need that. Polyvinyl fluoride (PVF) and ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) also not super great for environment, or the sheep grazing under the rebuild.

@rsch4274 @PappenheimWx What you just posted is for THERMAL solar systems that collect heat and transfer it, these are typically used for heating. Not PHOTOVOLTAIC (PV) systems that generate electricity directly. PV systems don't have fluid running through them.

@PappenheimWx What's sad is that it will take years for this land to recover from the massive amount of chemicals allowed to leech into the ground. It's an obvious attempt to make land unable to produce any food products for many years.
