@scuba_thomas @crawleytown @PnoTuna I agree it was more luck then anything, they took a punt on a lot of players and it worked but this time it hasn't and it no surprise after his stint with MK Dons.

@crawleytown @PnoTuna 😂😂😂 Lindsey only got you promoted the first time in a fluke. No talent about the bloke. Hi Scott, I know you’ll be reading the comments in hope the fans are outraged, your ego will undoubtedly need a boost.

CRAWLEY TOWN SACK LINDSEY 😳❌ Scott Lindsey has been 𝙎𝘼𝘾𝙆𝙀𝘿 by League Two giants Crawley Town following their 1-0 loss at Fleetwood Town on Saturday… The Red Devils sit 21st in the fourth tier, winning just 6 of their 39 games this season following their relegation last term - accruing 31 points, leaving them 1 point above the relegation zone. Lindsey won Crawley promotion against all odds in 2024, helping them to a record 8-1 aggregate victory over MK Dons before beating Crewe 2-0 in the clubs first ever visit to Wembley. Crawley were relegated from League One by 1 point the following season but now face back-to-back relegations. Have the club pulled the trigger at the right time? 👀👇🏽

I’m sure mid-game notes are important, but at what point does Liam Rosenior become so obsessed by constant scribbles that he misses big chunks of the actual match? Feels like he tries too hard to look busy on the touchline & smart in interviews... #CFC x.com/youngjohne8776…

Am I the only one who really doesn't like the second part of this advert? Football isn't the path you'd take if you're focused on getting rich! But getting coaches to potentially undervalue themselves to try to get a job doesn't sit right with me. What are people's thoughts?

@StfcShaun Depends on the age doesn’t it. But applied appropriately there is space for both but most fall into habit of consistently applying direct instruction (controlling). We need to allow players to have autonomy and collaboration

Most children don’t struggle because they lack ability. They struggle because someone on the touchline won’t stop telling them what to do. What do children learn when every decision is made for them?

@fredcxv Bit harsh on Batty, he comes into a team with little experience and fighting for promotion. Never easy and needs time to grow, he seems decent enough and has done some good bits but unless we got an experienced player in during Jan we was never going to easily replace him.

@_ToddBeane As a group it's very hard to teach technique with the different levels in most grassroots teams and really falls back to the player and them learning this on their own but that has to come from them loving football and wanting to do it, not the parent.

Can we speak about this respectfully? ✔️ Technical precision is a must. Nobody doubts the necessity of ball control. ✔️We also know that children learn through trial and error. Through play and refinement. Nobody doubts this either. The issue is HOW children learn to become proficient. ❓So then comes the question of grassroots coaches teaching a specific technique. ▪️One Example I volunteered to coach ice hockey having only played youth ice hockey as a player before moving to soccer. I was not capable of teaching very specifically the nuances of technique and indeed some puck manipulation had evolved over the years. I raise my hand first to say I was limited as a coach in this regard. Back to Soccer ——> ❓Do we really believe (though through no fault of theirs) that grassroots soccer coaches/volunteers who are not specialists can teach technique in detail? 🤔 Now line up 12-20 kids in pairs and expect that same volunteer coach to effectively improve technical details individually. 🗣️ My opinion: Not going to happen. The feedback loop to a player is depedent on a person not equipped to do so. Consideration —— The feedback loop in team trainings comes from the efficacy of execution. Judged by contextual and competitive errors. From contextual exercises requiring vision, decisions and precision. ✏️ Yes, I favor contextual exercises. We have found through research and real practice worldwide that team trainings afford us limited time to build holistic skills. NOTE: (we do have movement and skill specialists on our staff so I-Skills do form part of our program.) 🎤 What is your opinion? Please respond without ad hominen attacks as that serves nobody. Please do feel free to share your viewpoint and we all will respect your input. Feel free to disagree with any ideas in question here colleague to colleague. Thank you. #TOVO #intelligenttraining

@Official_STFC Yet again fucking dreadful. Slow. No creativity. No urgency. Midfield 3 of Nichols, Kilkenny and Oldaker NEVER works. Hoilett and Bodin no pace or ability to take players on. We have had 1 shot. Utter joke.

@TheS_Resource For me though, I don't like losing, no one does and that's normal but if we lose I don't mind if everyone goes on and runs and tries the best to their ability, I look at myself more if players can't do something as we haven't taught it or trained in it enough.

@TheS_Resource You get a taste and it's great, then you might win a few and start hardly losing, then you lose a few games so you start playing the more ready kids or parents have a go and say why is that player playing, it becomes hard.

Zlatan Ibrahimović recently said something about youth football at AC Milan that every grassroots coach needs to hear. He described a culture where youth coaches pick the "ready" player over the one with potential because they want to win, and the player with potential loses their game time and their development stalls. He was talking about one of the biggest clubs in the world, but the exact same problem is happening on youth pitches (even more so at the younger foundational age groups) every single weekend. I've broken this down in the comments 👇
