“Would you want to be filmed 24/7 in your room while you’re ill in hospital?” The NHS has rolled out a controversial spy camera technology across approximately half of all mental health trusts that provide inpatient services in England. Oxevision is billed as a tool for remotely monitoring patient wellbeing – but does it actually make people less safe? The technology has been linked to at least four inpatient deaths, and patients aren't always asked for consent or even aware that they're being recorded, @harriepw explains.

And on that note, academics, especially those who influence policy, can and should call for action. It's not 'biassed' to 'take sides'. It is your job.

Please can you confirm if this is an error? @CNTWNHS the patient leaflet is very generic and you use Oxevision on all the other wards so perhaps the standard information was copied?

Also the information provided to patients about Oxevision does not give any details about consent processes and gives no clarity that it is a video camera that records patients at all times and shares data with an external party. Absolutely appalling.

Oxevision/Oxehealth/LIO Health & its costly, harmful bedroom spy cams seem to be following the same strategy to lure in NHS head honchos as previous initiatives like now-banned SIM But this time it's backed by venture capitalists & investors hungry for returns @StopOxevision
