Promoting circular business opportunities and addressing harmful misconceptions about burning sugarcane waste helps pave the way for innovative business practices by raising awareness of the value of waste and by-products. This is one of the objectives of the "Inclusive Green Growth in Egypt" project, implemented by the @UN in Egypt in partnership with the Ministries of Industry and Environment, funded by the Swiss government. This initiative seeks to transform the sugarcane value chain in Luxor and Qena by enhancing circular business opportunities and tackling harmful misconceptions about burning sugarcane waste, while also raising awareness of the health, environmental, and economic risks involved. Through tailored capacity building along the value chain and providing advisory support to micro, small, and medium enterprises, NGOs, and financial institutions, along with essential links and guidance for the local government, the project has resulted in the production of alternative fertilizers and feed products. This not only benefits local farmers and companies but also contributes positively to our environment 🌍! 📊 Key Achievements: - Over 1,200 market actors were educated on circular business opportunities. - More than 45,000 tons of sugarcane waste were valorized from 2022 to 2024. Together, we can create a greener and more sustainable future! #UNDay #Together_for_our_Common_Future
