A Blizzard Warning has been issued for parts of SE WI until 3/16 4:00PM. A Blizzard Warning means strong winds & heavy snow will create low visibility. Please pay close attention to the forecast & use extreme caution during this time.

Forecast remains on track for today, the first in our stretch of several days of severe weather risks across the central/southern US. Widespread storms are expected to develop along a frontal boundary draped from the Ohio Valley down into the southern Plains today as a shortwave trough overspreads the region. Stronger forcing/shear with northward extent will lead to a messier storm mode but a greater chance for more robust storms, while weaker forcing/shear south will lead to a cleaner storm mode but potentially less robust/organized convection. Still, the main threats across the entire risk area appear to be large hail and damaging winds, while the tornado threat is low but nonzero. SPC has outlined a Slight Risk (level 2/5) for these threats. For more detailed information, check out my forecast discussion video from yesterday; my thinking from that video remains on track.
