The Governing Body and staff of Stranmillis University College are delighted that four colleagues have been recognised in the King's Birthday Honours. Professor Noel Purdy has been awarded an OBE for services to education and Dr Michael Ievers has been awarded a BEM for services to drama in Northern Ireland. Former members of the Board of Governors, Professor David Jones was awarded an MBE for services to education and to pharmacy and Mr William Patterson was awarded a BEM for voluntary service to education. Our congratulations to each.






Junior Ministers Pam Cameron and Aisling Reilly today joined @BarnardosNI and guests for the THRiVE Collaborating for Impact conference @stranbelfast. They met with young people and parents who have benefitted from the @THRiVENabbey project and spoke about the importance of collaborative working between government and partner organisations to improve the lives of children and young people across society.

Education Minister @paulgivan has today announced a major programme of investment to deliver innovative and community informed approaches to raise achievement to reduce educational disadvantage in Northern Ireland. The programme, part of a wider funding package, represents an investment of £20million over the next two years, with potential for further funding. More: education-ni.gov.uk/news/new-ps20m…

In “A Fair Start” in 2021 our expert panel proposed a place-based whole community approach to addressing educational disadvantage in NI. Today we welcome the commitment of @paulgivan & @Education_NI to deliver this RAISE programme with support from the Shared Island Initiative.
