Philosophers of science seem to love case studies. In almost all other scientific disciplines, these would have the status of anecdotes. I understand philosophers of science can't do randomized controlled experiments. But why don't they prefer systematic reviews over anecdotes?

When a clinical trial is registered retrospectively, do authors report and justify this transparently in journal publications, as recommended by the ICMJE? We checked and the answer (unsurprisingly) is: rarely. With @Strech_Da, now published in @BMJ_Open: bmjopen.bmj.com/content/13/4/e…
