Looking down the nave of St Mary’s, Kempley in the remote Gloucestershire village of Kempley. Here we see the chancel arch built around 1130 - dogtooth moulding indicative of the period.

Click for the font, folks! Here's the lovely simple baptistry of the Wisdom of God, Lower Kingswood, #Surrey, by Sidney Barnsley, 1890-2, in cool, calm Byzantine style. Look at the patterning on the marble bowl. Simplicity itself for #FontsOnFriday

❗️Cricketers Update❗️ Achieving the right balance between restoration and conservation is a tricky process, but we are pleased to be able to retain the cellar wall in its as-found condition - a feature of the Cricketers' past ready to serve its future #restoration #conservation

#OnThisDay in #Swindon history - 1902 - William Hooper leaves the GWR after a serious leg injury, eventually going on to be one of Swindon's most successful commercial photographers. The man himself, working on prints in, possibly, the same year flic.kr/p/9bfFoN

#stdionysius in #marketharborough which is a glorious church in the heart of the town. Sitting on the busy bench I saw so many people come and go. Definitely different as I'm so used to being in silent churchyard on my own! Mind you, no-one took any notice of me!

#mementomorimonday Tamizian Penney, wife of John Penney, died in 1710. I don’t know her age. Her stone is thought to have been carved by Joseph Lamson. She is buried with her husband at Phipps Street Burying Ground in Charlestown, Mass.

The interior walls of All Saints’, Ballidon are presently composed of rough exposed Derbyshire stone. However, this wasn’t always the case.

St John the Baptist church, Whitwick, near Coalville. Butterflies, the sound of trickling water, the smell of greenness and some gorgeous, chunky old architecture~a little crumbly and alive with moss and wildflowers 🙏#churchdrawing #village church #leicscofe
