Over 150 bandits drown as boat capsizes in Sokoto
By: Zagazola Makama
No fewer than 150 suspected bandits have reportedly drowned after a boat conveying them capsized in Sabon Gida area of Sokoto State.
Local sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on Saturday evening when the vessel, carrying a large number of armed men, overturned while crossing a water body in the area.
The sources said the bandits were travelling in large numbers when the boat suddenly capsized, throwing all occupants into the water.
“Preliminary information suggests that many of them could not swim, leading to heavy casualties,” a source said.
Initial reports indicated that none of the occupants survived the incident, although there has been no official confirmation from security agencies as at the time of filing this report.
The development, if confirmed, is expected to deal a significant blow to criminal groups operating in parts of the North-West region.

@Samuelifernando @Riddwane That's on you lots
Y'all kept quiet; no criticism within and outside the state.
y'all will live, work and do business outside your state and still insult your host, drag political posts and force traditional leadership equity.
Is that how to behave?

Uptown Fraud, you were celebrating a bus shield build by Otti just days ago. Now you want to belittle a massive project being done by FG. This thing is no longer opposition politics; it’s just pure madness occasioned by lack of patriotism.

@romeocza So, was it ok for him to leave his job and follow to be shown that Akwa Ibom was not in the mix but that the trip was about Lagos? What an insult/shame on Akwa Ibom people who yearns for Seaport standing there watching such signing ceremony. Shows how truly APC cares about us.

❗️The Iranian terrorist regime launched a long-range missile for the first time since the start of Operation Roaring Lion that could reach a distance of ~4,000 km.
During Operation Rising Lion in June 2025, the IDF revealed that the Iranian regime has intentions to develop missiles with a range of 4,000 km, which pose a danger to dozens of countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. The Iranian regime denied this.
We have been saying it: The Iranian terrorist regime poses a global threat. Now, with missiles that can reach London, Paris or Berlin.
The Iranian terror regime has carried out attacks against 12 countries in the region and is developing a capability that poses a much broader threat.

@SameAsake Little wonder why they detest Muslims from their tribe.
The kind of hatred and foul words coming from their mouth towards anyone from their tribe practicing Islam would leave you speechless.
If they have their way they will wipe them all and still justify such heinous act

I'm just coming across this video, and I have to drop my take without mincing words.
The truth and fact is that Yoruba and Igbo mix cannot work, just as much as Yoruba and Fulani mix has failed. These are the tribes with radical and extreme views, and they will stop at nothing until they destroy our land with their views.
Yoruba identity is not primarily tied to religion; we are too blessed to erase our identity for foreign religion, and we are too educated to cast out our brothers for their choice of religion. We must continue to ensure that this is maintained.
If you marry any of these listed tribes, be very careful with your children. Yoruba society will never accept strange ideology and culture; we would rather be advancing than in retrogression.
If you see something, say something! We must protect our heritage at all costs.

1. Ichafu is widely used in Igbo for headscarf/headtie but is a loanword from French "chiffon" (rag/fabric) or "couvre-chef" (head covering), per Igbo etymology sources and dictionaries—not 100% indigenous.
2. Gele in Yoruba means the traditional women's headwrap (elaborate tied fabric), confirmed across Wikipedia, cultural sites, and Yoruba references—not pocket handkerchief.
3. Old Igbo records (e.g., ~1900 dictionaries) translate "chiffon" as nkilika-akwa (rags/pieces of cloth); ichafu evolved as the adopted term for the item via borrowing.
Cultural terms often cross languages in Nigeria.

BREAKING GOOD NEWS 🔥
Precision Airstrikes Crush Sambisa Enclaves, Scores of Terrorists Eliminated
The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI has recorded a significant operational breakthrough following a series of precision airstrikes that neutralised scores of terrorists in the Sambisa Forest area of Borno State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the mission was launched based on credible intelligence indicating heightened insurgent activity around the Parisu axis deep within the forest.
At about 9:00 p.m. on March 20, an air asset was deployed to conduct an armed reconnaissance and interdiction operation over the target area. Upon arrival, the platform established visual contact with suspected Boko Haram fighters moving in a coordinated and tactical manner.
Further surveillance showed the insurgents converging on a concealed structure camouflaged under dense vegetation. Maintaining persistent overwatch, the aircrew trailed the movement to the hideout and executed a precision strike.
The strike was delivered with high accuracy, destroying the structure and neutralising multiple terrorists on site.
Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) conducted after the strike revealed that several insurgents fled from adjoining hideouts in disarray, attempting to escape deeper into the forest.
Maintaining pressure, the air platform tracked the fleeing elements and conducted a follow-up strike on another identified hideout. The second engagement further degraded the terrorists’ capabilities, destroying additional targets and forcing surviving fighters into chaotic retreat.
The sustained air presence and successive precision engagements highlight increasing air dominance, effectively denying terrorists freedom of movement and sanctuary within their enclaves.
Military sources added that the operation is part of ongoing, coordinated air and ground offensives aimed at dismantling remaining terrorist strongholds across Sambisa Forest and its surrounding corridors.

I returned from the United Kingdom, where I accompanied His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on a State visit.
In the course of the visit, I had the opportunity to engage with investors, particularly in the power sector, as we continue to position Akwa Ibom State for greater economic growth.
Our administration remains committed to strengthening the power sector and advancing the Ibom Deep Seaport project. These are critical investments that will unlock new opportunities and drive long-term development in our State.
While these projects take time and careful processes, we are making steady progress and recording strong investor interest. By the grace of God, we will achieve these goals.
We will continue to work diligently to improve power supply and realize the Ibom Deep Seaport for the benefit of our people.
