Israel is single-handedly dismantling the entire framework of international law, morality, and rules established by the global community since World War II; it is single-handedly destroying all diplomatic norms that have existed since the Westphalian system of sovereign states. It has subverted the "Just War" theory constructed by Western Christian tradition over the past millennium. It is single-handedly crushing the modern ethical system of humanity, dragging down the moral baseline of human society, and dragging humanity back into the barbarism of two thousand years ago. Israel is one of, if not the most, degenerate, barbaric, reactionary, regressive, indecent and dark regime humanity has ever witnessed in centuries. It has no connection to Western values; its moral standards are far below to those of Iran - the very country it strives to demonize. It is a disgrace to human society, and the entire world has seen this for what it is.
Sina Toossi@SinaToossi

Universities bombed. Scientists and political officials assassinated. Civilian infrastructure targeted. This model of warfare, mastered by Israel in the modern era, makes a point of discarding any pretense of law, ethics, or restraint. As in Gaza, it normalizes a level of savagery that will not stay contained. It will haunt the international system for years to come. Oh and relying on brute force like this is not strength. It is desperation, built on the illusion that it can deliver “victory” when it cannot.

The Bible specifically and repeatedly refers to 4-5 "brothers" of Jesus, using that term. Apologist responses here have always struck me, personally, as variants on "wine means grape juice."
Jennifer Greenberg 🕊️@JennMGreenberg

I never understood the purpose of this doctrine. Obviously Mary was a virgin when she had Jesus, but why must she remain perpetually so? Especially when the Bible talks about Jesus’s brothers. She was married to Joseph and sex within marriage is good, not sinful.

Nothing I said was a lie. Show me from the catechism where I’ve lied. Regarding your post, do you deny what James says about works? Justification is not by faith alone, according to James. We Catholics understand him to be talking about the ongoing justification (or sanctification) of a Christian’s life. That is, once you have been justified (by faith), you must continue to do good works (not works of the law). If you refuse to do good works, then you are like a dead body. In any case, this is not a “works based” theology, which was condemned by the Catholic Church as pelagianism. It is a grace based theology.

My statement re Prohibiting the Latin Patriarch of entering Church of Holy Sepulcher on Palm Sunday: While all Holy sites in the Old City are closed due to safety concerns for mass gatherings including the Western Wall, Church of the Holy Sepulcher and Al Aqsa Mosque, the action today by the Israel Nat'l Police to deny Latin Patriarch Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa and 3 other priests from entering the Church to offer a blessing on Palm Sunday is an unfortunate overreach already having major repercussions around the world.  Home Front Command Guidelines restrict any gatherings to 50 people or less.  The 4 representatives of the Catholic Church were well below that restriction.  Statements from the Gov't of Israel indicate the action to prohibit Cardinal Pizzaballa entry to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher were for safety reasons, but churches, synagogues, and mosques throughout Jerusalem have met with the restrictions of 50 or less.  For the Patriarch to be barred from entry to the Church on Palm Sunday for a private ceremony is difficult to understand or justify. Israel has indicated it will work with the Patriarch to accommodate a safe means of carrying out Holy Week activities.

@LawsuitGuitars @GovMikeHuckabee Catholics do not preach a gospel of works. Salvation is by grace alone, initiated by faith. Catholics do not worship Mary.

Maybe it was God preventing them from preaching a false gospel of works. Perhaps it was God preventing Mary worship (idolatry) in His house. It could have been the Holy Spirit Himself keeping usurpers out of His house. (Matthew 23:9, Ephesians 2:8-9, Deuteronomy 18:10-12). Let's not forget that the Catholic Church promotes false Christianity.. It needs to be referred to as such.

A brutal reality on this Palm Sunday is that you can love, hate, or be indifferent to, the Russians and Iranians, but ..... their military interventions in the last decade are the only reason many historic Christian communities in the Middle East survived US policy idiocies.

All of the arguments for euthanasia fail. Even if I agreed that people have some kind of moral right to kill themselves (which I don’t), euthanasia wouldn’t be needed to exercise that “right.” You can already kill yourself. The idea that people need some kind of state sponsored system just to commit suicide is totally incoherent, even on its own terms. And those term are totally deranged because in truth, again, there is no moral right to suicide. But that’s almost a separate question, or at least a question further downstream. When it comes to euthanasia, the first and most immediate question is not whether people have the right to kill themselves, but whether the STATE and the MEDICAL INDUSTRY have the right to kill people. Should doctors be in the business of deliberately killing human beings? Should we have a bureaucracy for suicide? These are the real questions. And even if you (wrongly) think that humans have a moral right to murder themselves, you should still be able to see why doctors and bureaucrats ought to have no role in it.

The Senate left but it's not in recess. Thune is denying Trump the ability to make recess appointments via these tricky games. Trump isn't talking about this. Maybe he doens't understand? JD was in the Senate and could explain this. Why it's not a bigger deal is a mystery to me.

The "social conservatives" were right about everything. We have been right about everything for decades. Literally everything. We told you that if you tolerate euthanasia even for the terminally ill, even for the "extreme cases," very soon it will be used to put down anyone the state deems inconvenient or burdensome. And that is exactly what has happened, just as we said it would.

The Dark Ages weren't dark, they were a 500 year rescue operation run by the Church When Rome fell in 476 AD, monks walked into the ruins and pulled out the manuscripts Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, Virgil were copied by hand for 500 years in cold rooms for no audience The Renaissance didn't rediscover antiquity, it unwrapped what monks had kept

They tried to prosecute Päivi Räsänen for quoting the Bible. Thankfully, they did not succeed. Shamefully, they managed to find something else to get her for. A pamphlet her and her bishop printed two decades ago! The secular elite hate truth and therefore despise Christians.
ADF International@ADFIntl

🚨BREAKING: Päivi Räsänen unanimously acquitted for her Bible tweet, but convicted of “hate speech” for a 20+ year-old church pamphlet The conviction is under the “war crimes and crimes against humanity” section of Finland’s criminal code, alongside Bishop Juhana Pohjola.

They had to drop the charges. Otherwise the public might learn this owner of a kosher cafe in a Jewish hospital was a plant to discredit pro-Palestinian protests. Your next stooge should be try to be less obvious than Hitler salutes and screams for a "Final Solution".

JCCMontreal@jcc_montreal

The decision to withdraw charges against Mai Abdulhadi, an individual who performed a Nazi salute and called for a “Final Solution” against Jews is nothing short of outrageous. Let’s stop pretending this is complicated. Invoking the “Final Solution” is a direct reference to the Holocaust. It is a call for genocide. The Nazi salute is not symbolic speech. It is the open glorification of an ideology responsible for industrial-scale murder. And yet, here in Montréal, that conduct now appears to come without consequence. This is not happening in a vacuum. Jewish schools have been shot at. Synagogues have been targeted. Jewish businesses have been attacked. Families are looking over their shoulders in neighbourhoods where they have lived peacefully for generations. The situation in this city is deteriorating. Rapidly. And decisions like this do not calm tensions, they inflame them. They tell extremists that the line is moving, that what was once unthinkable is now tolerable, and that even explicit calls for violence against Jews may be brushed aside. What exactly is the threshold now? What more needs to be said, or done, before authorities are willing to act? Jewish Montrealers are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for the most basic guarantee any society owes its citizens: that open incitement to our destruction will be taken seriously and met with consequences. Right now, that guarantee feels like it is slipping away. This is a test for our institutions. A test of whether we still have the moral clarity to recognize hatred when it is shouted in plain terms. So far, we are failing it. And the cost of that failure will not be theoretical.

STAR TREK: The great tragedy of Discovery is knowing that this single character could've carried the entire show through several seasons at least. If he were an "evil" Picard but extraordinarily sly about it, where the audience knew he was a malevolent actor but the crew being wholly unawares. And that going on for years as we watch his schemes unfold and see that he's both ruthlessly competent but fiercely devoted to humanity. A kind of In the Pale Moonlight as a series long arc. It'd be difficult to pull off and it's clear none of the Discovery writers had the chops... but I'm telling you a seed was there.
