@cyannick Nice! I'll have to try it out then :) trying other runtimes on windows I would often end up with some issues where the runtime would have notable differences from running .APK na quest or quest link, curious how it stacks up

@OscarFalmer I'm sure if a goal of legal department was to find some hypothetical scenario they could come up with some reason, but imo it hurts meta to let legal block absolutely everything they can

@OscarFalmer Also I'm really curious what the legal department's reasoning was for geoblocking things like neural wristband handwriting. Or already mentioned AI on glasses (without image input, just simple text question!)

🕶️ Quick answers to Meta Ray-Ban Display development questions - You can now record your Display's screen view in the Display's setting 'Display recording' or Meta AI app below the Display, swipe the banner to 'Record display' - Web Apps are running locally on glasses - You can simulate Web Apps in your browser but need a real device for Device Access Toolkit integrations - All Display users globally have access to Web Apps but need to enable the Developer Mode to try them - There is no program to request access to, it's all available, just need to enable Developer Mode on your glasses - Display still only available for purchase in the US, I can't provide you any pairs - We and I don't provide discounts for Display - Display firmware update v125 with these new features is rolling out since yesterday globally, if you don't have it already, it's coming soon! - You can get started today at developer.meta.com/wearables - You can post your projects on the official subreddit r/MetaGlassesforDevs reddit.com/r/MetaGlassesf…

@Lunayian The connect website puts a lot of focus on AI/HUD glasses this year. Kind of expected (will we see the next gen of displays announced?) but I wish they would put a bit more spotlight on VR

@MalaPBG @BeatSaber Yeah, especially if you consider how much resources Beat Saber / Meta has at their hand. Some MR mode for Beat Saber should have been released on the day of Quest 3 release.

@MalaPBG @BeatSaber Kind of insane beat saber hasn't released some MR mode. I suspect they did some internal tests and decided it wasn't good enough to release or something, but cmon, let us have some fun with it

@SadlyItsBradley Looking forward to see it! With all the doom and gloom news it would be nice to hear what headset improvements we can hope for in future

Many things happening in the background are secretly pushing XR to evolve I saw next generation displays and optics which fix many of Micro-OLED’s weaknesses Including a fully working Samsung Galaxy XR headset with 10,000+ nits displays. Allowing perfect motion clarity!

@TechCrunch I wonder why is tech crunch so pessimistic about technology? Reading this article sounds like it was written by someone who hates technology in general. VR bad, AI bad. Some healthy scepticism is good, but I want to read from people who love tech, not hate it

@GergelyOrosz How long did it take to make? My niece would lose her mind for one of these but I cannot tell if it is a 5 minute task or a 2 hour rabbit hole.

Had a “wow” moment with Suno: creating a hyper-personalized song for my kids, with the theme being our vacation adventures. Epic hit. At the same time, I cannot see myself using the app beyond this one-off neat party trick, nor listening to music that *others* generate with AI.

@VadimYuryev @benz145 There might come a time where this difference in visuals in negligible, but my bet would be that's not happening for the 30 years. But who knows, maybe AI singularity will accelerate development of displays in unforeseen ways

@VadimYuryev @benz145 Basically anything AR glasses will be able to do, a passthrough style VR headset will be able to display for you much better, with much better field of view, colour, resolution, refresh rate etc. and VR headsets are soon going to get much much slimmer and lighter.

@VadimYuryev @benz145 I think there's a bit of false dichotomy here that we'll have either VR headset or AR glasses. Both device types can exist simultaneously. There is a lot of content that benefits from being able to display dark colours.

@VadimYuryev @benz145 What is displayed isn't being affected by 6DoF head movement like in VR/AR headsets. And you can't really display dark content well if it's bright outside. 6DoF is solvable, resolution will take a while to catch up. FoV of vision pro or Quest 3 likely won't come for a decade.

@VadimYuryev @benz145 This just confirms what I thought. This is a completely different product with completely different capabilities. I own a pair of meta display glasses. They are cool in their own way, but it's just a small HUD display, with much lower FOV and resolution.

@VadimYuryev @benz145 And just to be clear, by small glasses I mean here transparent optics. If we're talking about small and light headset with really good passthrough cameras, that's coming much quicker, but that's probably not what you meant by glasses

@VadimYuryev @benz145 I think you highly underestimate how much time it will take to get AR glasses which have capabilities anywhere close to Vision Pro. Barring some huge unforseen technical breakthroughs, having small glasses with comparable visuals will likely take a decade or more.

@Scobleizer Sorry but how exactly do you imagine rec room working on smart glasses with a HUD display at best?

Sad news over in VR. RecRoom was one of the longest-running and most popular on Meta’s VR platform. I haven’t played it for years but spent a lot of time in it. But the question I have after a raft of closures on Meta’s VR platform: As it pivots toward AI and glasses will any development house ever trust it again? The stink coming out of Meta has been really stinky for years now. As a steward of a platform it has been really horrid. There is something really rotten going on inside Meta. I went back and spent some time on Facebook. It is a real mess. A real lack of leadership is apparent over there. I know I am actively avoiding using its products and services. When does everyone else? Might be years but there is a reason I bet on Elon and took shit for years because of it. So sad just watching what is going on over there though.
Brad Lynch@SadlyItsBradley

Rec Room is shutting down for good on June 1st “We never quite figured out how to make Rec Room a sustainably profitable business” “With the recent shift in the VR market, along with broader headwinds in gaming — we've made the difficult decision to shut things down.”
