The base case is that the open borders policy of the former regime led to an influx of millions of immigrants that coupled with motor voter laws in no photo ID states undermined federal election integrity, and taxpaying citizens were irked by this in a massive way. That was one of the main reasons that Trump won a landslide trifecta, and the oppostition to the implementation of those corrective measures is like jeering from the bleachers. Demonizing ICE is not a smart policy.
