It is a real privilege to have been elected a member of @acad_euro, and to join such a distinguished community of scientists and scholars, including more than 80 Nobel Laureates. This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the collective work of exceptional colleagues, collaborators, and students. Grateful to be part of a community devoted to advancing the boundaries of knowledge and discovery. ae-info.org/ae/Member/de_l…

Tenure. Deeply grateful to the students, postdocs, mentors, collaborators, and colleagues who made this possible. The next chapter will expand the lab towards a couple of new directions. The first grant for one of them just went out this morning :).

Aging may feel gradual… but what if it’s not? In our paper out today, we tracked fish continuously from puberty until death. This gave us a unique view of how aging unfolds across the adult lifespan. 🧵

Excited to share our lab’s latest work in @SciImmunology, examining how CAR-T cells bypass the niches that normally support stem-like subsets in vivo and how this influences their sensitivity to checkpoint blockade.

Published today in @SciImmunology: @sriv4000 and team find a new way to give #CARTcells their own portable pit crew, allowing them to rejuvenate on the go and transforms them into a type of T cell that can support long-term immune responses against tumors. bit.ly/3NiSged

I am thrilled to be a part of this cohort and learning how to scale-up bold ideas from some of the most experienced innovators ARPA agencies and private sector. I will work to establish a new type of drug discovery pipeline that could target currently unsolvable disorders.

This @Nature study (rdcu.be/eY5hC) shows that loss of the ubiquitin ligase KLHL6 in Tex cells prevents TOX degradation, stabilizing exhaustion and mitochondrial dysfunction. Another case linking proteostasis to T cell exhaustion. Congrats to @HutchGreenberg, Guideng Li.

📌 Take-home message: Targeting ubiquitin-mediated proteostasis can coordinate cell state and metabolism in T cells. KLHL6 is a multifunctional, clinically actionable target for next-gen immunotherapy.

🚨 Excited to share our collaborative work in @Nature ! 🚨 We identify KLHL6, an E3 ubiquitin ligase, as a key regulator that protects CD8⁺ T cells from both exhaustion and mitochondrial dysfunction — two major barriers in cancer immunotherapy. nature.com/articles/s4158…🧵👇
