Devolution in England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland has been disastrous.
In an ideal world, the devolution settlements of the late ‘90s would be reversed.
The three nations of GB functioned much more harmoniously under the integrated model, and the failure to fully integrate Northern Ireland into this centralised system was a monumental failure.

For the 26 counties at least, the period from 1990 (Italia 90) to the crash of 2008 was without any doubt the greatest, most prosperous and happiest time since the Normans arrived in 1169.
It was far from perfect, but it was the best we’ve had in the Free State.

A Congolese man died in Dublin on Friday after he was restrained by several security guards in an alleged shoplifting incident – prompting widespread anger and calls for justice. Video of the incident showed several guards on top of Yves Sakila, 35, in Dublin city centre as he cried out in distress. At one point, a guard appears to kneel on his head or neck. He later appears to become unresponsive. Police are investigating. The footage has prompted comparisons with the 2020 killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Local community members held a vigil on Tuesday, chanting “justice for Yves”. The Irish Council for Civil Liberties is demanding that the death be “swiftly, thoroughly and transparently investigated”.
