IF they were running on the pitch, then YES, it’s scored a stolen base. • On a ground ball in the infield, if the throw would have beat the runner to first base but a bad throw or missed catch by the first baseman results in the runner being safe, it’s an error, NOT a hit. • On the same type of play if the ball was fielded cleanly but the runner beat the throw to first base but a bad throw allowed the runner to reach second base, this is scored a single and advanced to second on an error.
