@seagullsafterya No, RHP wasn’t the same thing and only included a portion of the group. As 19 year olds some lads with no third level education painted hoardings with skills they had learned bombing. It was embarrassingly shit work
English

@SubsetDublin Please follow through with this from 2015 when yous were more transparently known as Rabbit Hole Promotions

English

@seagullsafterya Not than I can remember. Yeah documentaries going great thanks, just waiting to see how a few things outside of our hands play out. we’ll update you soon, don’t worry
English

@SubsetDublin Did you ever meet someone with "purely male...no female energy" again or was that just the rapist yous painted a mural of? How's the documentary yous solicited donations for under the guise of it being to 'fight DCC'? No regrets about painting alcohol ads?
English

@mulvanypeopleb1 Speaking from experience it was the death threats and vitriol which makes you want to cut the limb off entirely. We refused to delete because we weren’t going to bow down to what is essentially bullying
English

@martinbeanz It’s a strange feeling having that sort of energy directed at you that is almost transcendental. You feel it even if you cut yourself off from the internet.
English

Ah lads,if you turn on #garron because he shared an opinion when pushed for 1,whether we agree or not,what then does that say about societal dialogue?I mean,it's not as if he even said that refugees aren't welcomed.He's human and right now I bet he's feeling vulnerable.
Be kind.

@edgalligan @ConorReddy95 @DubCityCouncil You have the order reversed there. How do you pay your rent?
English

@SubsetDublin @ConorReddy95 @DubCityCouncil Most marketing agencies do fund ads advertising themselves "entirely themselves".
How did you fund them, was it from your cryptocurrency investments?
English

What have @DubCityCouncil got against this mural?
Why must everything be grey or fenced off? Why the constant hostility to public art?
I'll be writing to the Council for answers.

English

@edgalligan @ConorReddy95 @DubCityCouncil We were taken to court over artworks which we funded entirely ourselves. A lot of these sort of murals are in fact advertisements paid for by NGOs
English

@ConorReddy95 @DubCityCouncil It at least doesn't seem like DCC are being partisan/political here - they have a long history of cracking down on murals, including (rightly) the pervasive ads put up everywhere by @SubsetDublin
We really need more nuanced regulation of public art that isn't just bureaucracy.

@Irishingaza @DanLizzyMan @conwaywalsh @JJHurson @jncatron @TadhgHickey @ipsc_derry @CareForGaza @EyeonPalestine No, you can initiate a formal planning complaint for unauthorised development to the county council.
English

@SubsetDublin @DanLizzyMan @conwaywalsh @JJHurson @jncatron @TadhgHickey @ipsc_derry @liamcunningham1 @CareForGaza @EyeonPalestine And it been on private property does that make a difference
English

@Irishingaza @DanLizzyMan @ciarantierney @conwaywalsh @JJHurson @jncatron @TadhgHickey @ipsc_derry @liamcunningham1 @CareForGaza @EyeonPalestine There’s no size specifications with murals. They just straight up need PP.
The size exemption sounds like it’s related to a temporary advertising structures which have a maximum stay period of 7 days.
English

@SubsetDublin @DanLizzyMan @ciarantierney @conwaywalsh @JJHurson @jncatron @TadhgHickey @ipsc_derry @liamcunningham1 @CareForGaza @EyeonPalestine Unfortunately not
English

@Irishingaza @DanLizzyMan @ciarantierney @conwaywalsh @JJHurson @jncatron @TadhgHickey @ipsc_derry @liamcunningham1 @CareForGaza @EyeonPalestine They definitely do. Have they erected a billboard which they’ve painted?
English

@Irishingaza @DanLizzyMan @ciarantierney @conwaywalsh @JJHurson @jncatron @TadhgHickey @ipsc_derry @liamcunningham1 @CareForGaza @EyeonPalestine That definitely needs planning permission
English

@DanLizzyMan @ciarantierney @conwaywalsh @JJHurson @jncatron @TadhgHickey @ipsc_derry @liamcunningham1 @CareForGaza @EyeonPalestine It 1 inch under planning permission size and its on a private building.

Seeing through an artistic vision is worth risking it all

Kevin Costner confirms he spent $38 million of his own money to get "Horizon" made. “I know they say I’ve got $20 million of my own money in this movie. It’s not true. I’ve got now about $38 million in the film. That’s the truth. That’s the real number.” variety.com/2024/film/news…

@dccBETA @BristolCouncil Are you hoping to get Simon and Louis involved?
English

@BristolCouncil Hi folks, is this still something that you do? If so, any more info on? DMs open or beta@dublincity.ie theguardian.com/artanddesign/2…
English

@Bubblenoma Most artists are forced to work with commercial businesses in order to sustain themselves because there are very little other supports. It’s either that, leave art and get a job or work a job to fund your art which eats up time and energy

@Vard @Aoife_Dooley @ThinkhouseIE We have a lot of really bad experiences. When we first started out an agency withheld payment from us for months after we had finished a job. We didn’t have any money whatsoever, owed suppliers and were struggling to even eat because of it. we never really recovered from it
English

@SubsetDublin @Aoife_Dooley @ThinkhouseIE Thanks for sharing that. As a designer, I would like to believe that agencies have the interest of both client and the creative community in mind but it seems some are better than others
